Off grid bm

hey, while waiting for tq, thought i'd ask, i like to make a bm above a belt, 180k ish, makes it easier to warp my squad to it and back to belt to save slowboating to roids in range.
But, if i warp each toon individually, its fine, warpable to roids, whereas if i squad warp, i end up at the bm, but its as if i'm off grid and nothing on overview.
Is this some game mechanic or am i doing it wrong?

By warping individually you are manipulating the grid. Google Eve Grid Fu.

When you warp everyone together you all leave the grid and another grid is created at your Bm.

It will be because one ship is keeping the BM on the same grid as the roids.
To give a picture example, - is a distance. You can be no more than 5 - from an object before you leave grid
If you warp one ship at a time, you have.
A-B-----C
Or
A(1)B(5)C.
If you warp all your ships together you get
A------BC
Or
A(6)BC.

So basically your BM is just too far away and needs to be about 10km closer and it should stay on grid. If you create it with a single ship on grid you won't have other ships interfering with grid shape. And test it a few times in case a ship landing at the furthest away random point is sufficient to end up off grid still.

Grid fu sounds about as messed up as the spotting system in WoT.

What would anyone want an offgrid bowel movement for? Or, are they all offgrid? Lol

Who knows why miners do things.

The only reason I use bookmarks at asteroid belts is so when I land on grid, if there is someone ratting, I can warp to a wreck and be close enough to kill them, rather than warping at 0 on the belt and giving them time to align and leave.

It amazes me to see how many people feel special because they shoot fake spaceships in a game instead of grinding fake resources. Its a game, stop stealth chest-beating.

Welcome to basic grid mechanics and how to manipulate a grid.

P.s. 151 km is enough and usually leaves grids intact.

When you make the off-grid BM, also make two or three about the belt, positioned to allow mining the entire belt from just those bookmarks. Then you warp to the first, mine the area out, bounce to the second, and so on. Two or three per belt is all it takes. With Orca boosts, may times you get the entire belt with just one.
