Drifters Activity
Artemetis and three Seekers at tower.
I am able to approach and launch drones without incident.
I aggress Artemetis with drones.
At fifty percent shield seekers begin to fire on me.
At twenty five percent shield Artemetis gets bored of me and opens fire.
My destroyer is destroyed in two volleys of her attack.
I retrieve an ibis and return.
No aggressive action is taken against me.

You have attacked them, Lieutenant Ouyano, and they have destroyed your ship in defense.
Probably they thought they taught you a lesson and thus didn't attack your next ship.

I will pray for your crew, that has died in this incident.

It's my understanding, Ms. Hanaya, that Ms. Ouyano is using convicted criminals as her crew for these missions. I also recall that they are being an offered the opportunity for their death sentences to be rescinded.

While I'm a proponent of not provoking the Drifters at this point, I am in favor of Ms. Ouyano's research efforts, as it has been noted that the Drifters' pattern of aggression is either random, has a high level of chaos, or has some heretofore undetermined factors. In cases like this data points or luck are required. Ms. Ouyano i providing data points.

I would also add that she is not adverse to personal risk. As part of her investigation several days ago, she requested that I destroy her pod in the presence of Drifters.

Is it bad to pray for criminals, Ms. Starfall?...

I think I should consult with a priest about this.

I meant to say thank you for your prayers. Even criminals deserve a prayer.

If I may, I would like to add my own observations. Right now I have been covertly tracking a pair of Drifters along with one seeker. I initially found them at the local Unidentified Structure, but since that time they have jumped to a station, two separate asteroid belts, and then another station. Curiously, when the Seeker warps off, the Drifters follow along shortly afterward. Another thing that puzzled me was the fact that in one of the belts several of the local Guristas pirates were present. However, neither side displayed any hostility towards the other. I'm not sure whether these observations are significant, but there they are.

Mr. Mabigonon,

Thank you very much for your observations, any data we can collect on the Drifters is very important.
Were you able to record the time interval it takes for the Drifters to follow the seekers?

Thank you,

Several seconds at the most. To me this suggests that either the Seekers and Drifters can communicate with one another or, at the very least, the Drifters are able to predict where the Seekers will travel to next.

On the topic of Seekers and Drifters warping, I have noticed that once they accelerate enough to initiate a warp there is a flash similar to the effect of activating a stargate. Don't know if this is important, but I hadn't notice anyone mentioning it.

Nevermind, I may have just been seeing things.

(OOC: They changed the warp effect, and I didn't notice until now)

No, it's not. I've had my share of prayers uttered for my past self.

I had interpreted you post as being accusatory in nature. If it was not, my apologies. I'm afraid that the level of petty bickering present on the IGS has gotten to me enough that I'm starting to see it where it does not exist.

Hmmm... I had just got done reading over all these communcations.

I started to wonder about the drifters home location, and what might be happening in that region.

It should be with out question they have come from jovian space.

My biggest question is after Caroline's Star every gate in Jovian Space simply disappeared. To what fate, I would assuming it would have been the star going nova. At this point in time, I don't question any reason for it now.

But.... 2 Constellation have come back online. The Constellation of 0VFS-G and B-HLOG. Correct me if i am wrong but there where not functioning for some time.

If this is the case. What ever Caroline's Star was its effects in the farthest out reaches of the effected space time, maybe starting to recede allowing for proper commutation between the gate network.

Those two constellations are a point I have raised in the past. According to my observations, those gates never went inactive. Considering they are on the distal end of their region from us, it has been my operating assumption - lacking means to test the theory - that these two constellations are beyond the area of effect of SSLA116/"Caroline's Star."

No, I'm not that kind of doctor.
