Purely for nerdgasm purposes, I would like to know what CCP did during the last 2 extended downtimes.

I knew we'd have them and I know it's about maintenance, but what are you guys doing or what have you guys actually done?

*shows off his age...

CCP is having an extended DOOM tournament using a modified Star Wars wad instead of the regular hellspawn demons.

They weren't really extended downtimes. Drifter battleships attacked the servers and overloaded them.

Fer realz, I read it on teh interwebz.

CCP was testing how fast they can move all assets from player made outposts to nearest NPC station while testing how much time will be needed to delete all sov infrastructure at the same time.

And here I though they tested how the servers could handle loot spew from destroyed outposts.

CCP had to take jigsaws to the openings for the Hamster wheels in preparation for Guinea Pig upgrades.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The downtimes allowed them to implement a new big red button contingency plan. During the first extended downtime a second big red button was installed along with a keypad for it and a new keypad for the first big red button. The second downtime was to accommodate the dev deathmatch which was held to decide who would be the second dev to receive the big red button code from Hilmar in case of an emergency.
