Easier Sentry Retrieval

So many times I've had sentries out, and then I recall them and they're RIGHT THERE but just barely out of range, so I have to manually tell my ship to turn its fat ass around and then line back up for where I was going. Yes. It's my fault. But, come on. They're right there. THEY'RE RIGHT THERE DAMNIT DRONES JUST MOVE A LITTLE.

Now my super perfect solution with probably no flaws at all maybe is to have sentries move at like 10 m/s but only when ordered to Return To Drone Bay. This maintains the balance for sentry drones but makes it possible to recover them when in Emergency Warp and not having to turn around during ill-planned normal warp.

This is such an awesome idea.

Sorry :( I would say yes because I agree this is a pain, but -1 because sentries are already OP. That's like the only drawback to ishtar doctrines, and this would act to buff the ishtar (which it totally does not need).

Well, relatively it wouldn't be as much a bonus for the Ishtar because it's So Zoom and does not care if the sentries are a little ways away. It's more of a benefit for things like Rattlesnakes and Domis.

But sentries are bit separate branch. Their non-mobile shooting platforms do not suppose to fly over or follow your ship, you just deploy them similar to sentries arround jg and stations.

Once upon a time they were 1500m to recall drones, but several problems from capitals ships to recall sentries made them to expand to 2500m.
At the present time i dont see that they will bother with sentries, unless its a nerf :P

They actually move 1 m/s when told to recall, or at least they did last time I checked a few expansions ago.

Not that that's very helpful, but hey..

Share your pain but I still have to say -1 to this.
I am tired os listening to all the whining about Ishtar and sentry drones and I fear this would only make it worse.
Besides that having to go back for them, or leave them behind in part of the price we pay as drones pilots.

b-b-but you are supposed to wait with your Dominix or Rattlesnake until you made a complete stop prior launching your sentries.

The problem with your fix is that 10m/s is too slow (not much better than 1m/s), If you end up being 500m out of 2500m (not very unlikely if you are slowing down) then that would take 50secs and you would be much better off traveling back there with your Domi.

Unless you make them move at least 100-500m/s this will not fix anything.

That being said I would not approve of them moving that fast so best to leave it as is.

Funfact, sentries do move...

They move at something like 1m/s which is really annoying if you're sitting on the edge of a pos shield shooting it to bits and suddenly your sentries are drfiting into the pos shields....

That said, No just keep an eye on them the whole stationary gunboat platform thing does require "stationary"

I'm seeing pilots say they do move; irregardless (yes double negative) ,

what ever the change or not
those drones would have to have
some sort of ability to stabilize themselves
in space such that they are not moving
in any direction in 3d space

So balance wise could they move when they can not shoot
and vice versa...

Hook them up with chains.
