25 cruizerhulls and 25 frigathulls, worth 50*130b (yah they sell for that) = 6,5 tril

In Euro's @ 1b=15Eu (easy calculating) = 6500*15eu= 97.500 Euro

Whats people's opinion on this?

Its actually worth zero. Unless you commit some form of intellectual property theft.

Legally, in eve, all you ever do is pay for a service. Those items are NEVER actually yours.

Ever.

End of story.

That being said, there is a rough mecahnism for determining real world value, which is a handy marketting and epeenage swelling tool.

While the curmudgeon above is technically correct, those ships still hold a monetary value in conversion rates, as you can work out the value of the ships and convert that into PLEX (which has an established value).

Personally, I have no qualms about ships of that value being put up for prize winning.

You need to go with the insurance payout to get the real ISK value and then you need to go with the rock bottom prices of illicit RMT to convert it into real cash. Then the first prize looks much more reasonable.

Not if it is used to add game time to your account.

6,500,000,000,000 / 800,000,000 (current average PLEX price)
= 8125

8125 / 12 = 677.1

So it is 677 years worth of game time. Unless I messed up on the math. What?

If game items don't have a real life value attached to them, then why is the IRS trying to get me to pay taxes on my MMO assets every year?

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

This is a good point. If you are currently paying for eve with real money, and/or buying PLEX to fund in-game activities, that prize is worth a huge savings in possible future real world expenses.

One thing to think about: If you sell the asset, the market price will drop. So using present prices is not very accurate.

I think you are mistaking CODE for the IRS.
Not too far-fetched of a mistake.

Your math is flawed. SOME Sell for that, but most aren't going to be sold at all, or at well below that.
Additionally, they are spread out over multiple individuals on the team (and sometimes beyond that, like if they were given isk to prepare).

Not only that, several of the high-tier AT Teams have their own stockpiles of Existing AT Prize Ships for use.. Which they risk and can at times lose.. We have had several Etana's die, Adrestia's, a plethora of the various frigs including 3 Malice's during the first NEO..

Is it a lot of potential isk? Yes, But it's also a Huge investment for most of the good teams, not just isk for ships and such, but in practices, forming stratifies, theory-crafting, etc.

Lies, the EULA states clearly that once you pay 15 dollars one time, everything you own in EVE is yours forever.

(I didn't say WHICH EULA, it's not the CCP one, it's the one I just wrote on this here napkin, it will so stand up in an Icelandic court!)

Woohoo. Can we like make a picture of this post and post it at the top of every killboard/Eve related website and stop comparing ISK to real world currency?

You could, but let's face it, people who care about kill board states wouldn't stop stroking their epeen long enough to read it.
