I think the bottom line is that rental income is down and some of the large blocks are offering up additonal ways to bring in revenue. This whole proposal comes down to a new way to tax folks. In the end, that's the only effect it will have on the game.

you do know there is a deployable that hides you from dscan, I never used one but i dont live in 0.0..

DISCLAIMER: *sigh* .... so many repliers and over 50% assume the F&I forum is a Q&A, where the OP wants to know how the game works. NO its not! I want to talk about features and game progression here and not have to read though what i can read in tutorials. I already know the game mechanics that i need and i am sure OP knows too. Otherwise Threads would or should get moved to the Help section.

@OP: "that a roaming gang can kill maybe 2-5 before the rest run and hide. (...) herd (...) vs. (...) predators" -- i like that goal. i want to kill stuff. i do not like when i enter 0.0 local through a WH, everyone docks and therefore i have noone to play with and have to roam for another 15minutes to find targets.
Dynamic dscan might improve gameplay options for the bait to stay on grid. therefor being vulnerable while still being able to make profit in a dangerous place. to be able fly his ship in a special way (like cap control and manual orbit or else, suggestions?) to better hide himself makes afk mining more difficult => active players will profit from it. [Docking = Immunity]=>boring. That is why i support OP.
Also: the suggestion to remove local in sov0.0 and make it a opt-in feature. ---> +1 (but only as long as predators do not appear there. a pilot can only see who is in the chat if he is there himself) (What do you think about showing the total number of local pilots in that chat for "everyone" to see?)

Ideas are like Seeds. I'd chop fullgrown trees to start a fire.

Suggestions:

(Minor):Have a tickbox that automatically pulses DSCAN every 10 seconds. Kind of like a radar antenna's rotation.

#1 Suggestion: When someone DSCANS and detects you they should emit a pulse on your system minimap revealing where they are and how long ago you received the pulse(you have to broadcast signals in order for them to bounce back and detect a signature).

Basically this changes the following:

By using the 5 degree pinpoint DSCAN you don't reveal yourself to the whole system - only those within range of the scan you did yourself.

360 degree DSCAN spamming miners make themselves clearly visible to everyone by broadcasting so many radar waves.

Combat scanner probes are required for someone not dscanning. At the same time, if you DSCAN 360 to detect probes at a safe - you reveal your position to everyone in system.

Basically make the DSCAN system make goddamn sense.

Attacking miners does not require probes at all.

One simply warps to the asteroid belt or Ore Anomaly.



I am well aware of this fact. Since the OP specifically stated that "probes" were OP I thought it best to address that specific issue thereby keeping my answer as on topic as it could be.
