Verification Failure

Greetings...

I've been away from my computer the last month or so, so before the Tiamat release.
About 2 weeks ago, I go to launch my client, put in username and pass, and I get a Verification Failure, as noted below:
Quote:
Verification Failure
Your Eve client may have been modified, damaged or corrupt file. Please run the repair.exe tool located [...]
Verification failed: 'E:\CCP\bin\ccpBrowser.exe' crc:e6087c42:, expected: 68f7969a
Verification failed: 'E:\CCP\bin\eveBanner.exe' crc: e00832fe;, expected 724685ae.

So I run the repair, completes successfully, but I don't overly pay attention to what it says in the log.

Try running the client, same end result.

So I uninstall the game, run ccleaner to remove any issues with the registry, restart the system, and proceed to download the full client (6+ Gb). Once it's done, I run the client and it updates to the latest version. Run the game, put in username and pass, same error.

Tried running the repair tool again, once more not paying attention to what it says. Successful.

Tried running the game, username and pass, same issue.

So at this point I open a support ticket, but it takes so long for CCP to get back to me on this, that I decide to uninstall again and repeat the process (6+ Gb again).. Only this time, when I launch the the game, it goes to the launcher screen then freezes, I can't put the username and pass.

Finally Smiley gets back to me and suggests that I run the game from the exe file in the bin directory.
Try that, same error.

Smiley gets back to me and suggest that I look for %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore and in there, there may be a folder called CCP\Eve. Asks me to delete it... but I don't have a folder named VirtualStore... so I'm back to square 1.

So a couple days ago, Smiley replies to run the repair in --safemode.
This time I see that those 2 files above are missing blocks. The repair tool tries to download it, but reverts back to the ones I have on my machine. I even tried deleting those 2 files... nothing.

Finally the new patch comes along... figure that it would "hopefully" fix my issue... of course not!

I'm getting slightly annoyed by this... I've been needing my Eve-Fix for a couple weeks and all I can do is check my mails on the gate...

I know Smiley is trying to get me back on, but has this issue been seen by any of you, and if so, how did you get to fix it?

Much appreciated.

This may not fix the problem but may get Eve to launch for you.
Try run eve.exe in Administrator Mode, although 3rd Party apps like TS3 may not work while in-game

TS3 works fine as long as you run it in Administrator mode as well.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

Until then, I'll just sit quietly over here, minding my own business...

I am not able to use TS3 while Eve is the active window, I have to tab out and select a blank space so I can use PTT.

UPDATE

Following this post, I've been asked by Smiley what AV and FW I was unsing, as apparently some may cause issues. This is a gaming box and I do not use it for anything else that Eve, so no FW (other than Windows FW) nor AV was present.

Figured I'd try installing one, heck, I've tried pretty much everything else.

Well I'll be damned, I ran the repair tool and it fixed tbe issue. Go figure how or why, but Eve is, as of last night, working again.

Thanks to those that replied; sidenote, running in admin mode did not work either.

Problem seems to be solved.

The fix for me was to reinstalll my AV.

Once I did that, the game has run fine ever since.
Hope it helps.
