So I've had this for around 10 years now,
I'm not even sure if its actually published anywhere or if it was something that CCP just sent to a hand full of us customers.
But the story behind it is, if i remember correctly is that back in like 2004-05 range eve actually had downloadable executable patches, well..
eve was booming and their servers could not handle the load from a new patch that was released, so a hand full of us put the patch up for the others to DL as mirror sites basically. I being a college student had no issues with giving out my college bandwidth and hosted the patch....

a few weeks later i got a nice letter from CCP with the enclosed Concept Art, i think it was for sleeper drones or something, but i'm not quite sure.

Thought i would share though.
*also i know its dated 02, but i'm pretty sure we got this around 04*

Enjoy

I'm glad they fired that guy. I heard he went to GW 2 designing necro companions.

Its from 02, so its nothing new.
I'm not sure if it is actually in game or if it was a scrapped piece of concept art.
Either way if its not in game i doubt it will ever be seeing as how old it is.

I've actually tried looking for archives of the original EVE website. I've found archived websites are a good source of content that has otherwise been lost to the ages.

Apparently the current URL was owned by a company that manufactured dentistry and jewelry polishers/grinders.

http://www.eve-rotary.com/en/home/

What was the old EVE website URL? Years before I started playing, when EVE hadn't even launched yet, I remember reading the EVE website and how cool everything sounded.

edit: found it was eve-online.com

Here's something you might find interesting. You may need a few Sherlock Holmes skills but...
betcha never knew this was "here". It's the Way Back Machine!

For instance: Very Old EVE Online Website

You should have been able to realize with a few Sherlock Holmes skills yourself that how I'd found out eveonline.com previously hosted this company's website in the first place.

I took me about 10 seconds to think about the putting the dash into the archive.org search I already had up on my other tab.

Old indeed. I can remember when this first surfaced.

I believe it's also in the new Art of New Eden book that's coming soon P

Cool,
Found it in my old file cabinet i didn't know if it had ever been shared with the community or not, or if it was just something that a dozen or so of us got.
The one i have does not look like an "original" i assume its just a copy, but its still pretty cool, not the mention at them time when i got it, it was really cool that CPP sent something like this as a Thank You.

A while back, archive.org helped me a lot in giving back access to assets that are still hosted on CCP's servers. While the community portal removed the pages that showcased this old content, it's still available from this page I created.

Unfortunately, many of the pictures in the Concept art Section appeared to no longer be available in higher resolutions. The Image of the OP is amongst them.

All the drones in eve look wrong. Even the one in that picture. They look too polished, delicate and inefficient. Not advanced and barely lethal. Their default form of attack - orbit and fire laser - doesn't improve on this. It's so easy to predict and so easy to counter.

For what's meant to be an advanced and extremely dangerous self sustaining AI, that has "taken over" ships, stations, even people, they are very unintelligent and passive. With seemingly no purpose at all othre than than to occupy combat sites, for no reason.

Once upon a time the Golem had a Raven hull and it looked good. Then it transformed into a plataduck. The end.

Very nice. Good job on setting that up.

In my opinion CCP definitely needs to retain their 'roots' amidst all the 're-balancing' being done lately. Too much has already been sacrificed in their effort to modernize this game.

Looks like something rouge drone for sure. Ever look at the drone domi? It has claws underneath. Me and a bunch of corpies all being noobs started trying to mimick it's sounds in our teamspeak, which lead to us all calling it the "glog" monster and occasional bouts of "glogloglogloglog" whenever we did drone sites.

The queen or whatever it's called looks quite strange too. Almost like a strange sansha battlestation of sorts.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

That pic comes from this file: Eve old concept art Contains alot of old art sketches & concepts, both on ships as races.

Some of it is quite surprising (Gnosis existed for a decade before making it ingame! Also, Sansha saucer (never made it))
Love the happy outgoing & expressive Caldari Deteis women, not something you normally associate with the rigid serious Caldari Twisted
