When am I allowed to Pod a player?

I am usually never in highsec so I don't fully understand the Concord response.

Yesterday, just happened to be in highsec running a mission with multiple rooms and noticed that one of my MTUs had been destroyed in the first room. So I warped off refit my ship for PVP and went on the hunt to kill the player that attacked my MTU.

I found him in the final room attempting to destroy yet another on of my MTUs. So I burned in and locked him and destroyed his ship. He attampted to return fire without success. I allowed his pod to get away becuase I feared that I would get Concorded for podding him.

Could I have legally destroyed his capsule in that situation or not? He wasn't a WT or a criminal with very lowsec status.

If your safeties are on yellow, and it lets you fire, you are allowed to pod that person. Easy as that.

If you have a limited engagement with a pilot you can kill the pod. Doesn't matter if they were suspect or you were suspect when the engagement started.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

This will create a Limited Engagement. However, you could have podded the player legally anyway as he was obviously Suspect after blowing up your MTUs.

Thanks good to know for the future, if that type of situation should present itself again. Next time I will pod the player too.

Switch safety to red. Now you're allowed to do anything you want.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Key word is "legal". Without getting my ship destroyed by Concord.

If they've aggressed you, in any area of space, in any context; you're allowed to pod them.

If they're suspect, in any area of space, in any context, you're allowed to pod them.

Both of these are true no matter what your safety is set to.

If your safety is yellow or green and the client lets you shoot a pod, that attack is legal.

This is the same in highsec and lowsec. (Note that in lowsec, the punishment for illegally podkilling is less than in highsec but still severe).

NEVER remove the green status of your safety in High sec. if you are set to yellow you can aggress and be concorded
The only time you are allowed to agress a player ship OR pod is if they attacked you giving you a limited aggression timer, they are suspect or criminal OR you are at war with them.

Keep safety to green in high sec and just stay alert. if you get the chance to attack someone LEGALLY never ever let the pod go.

That's incorrect. If they are set to yellow you can't do anything that get's you concorded.

Yellow allows you to do things that get you a suspect timer - red allows you to do things that get you a criminal timer (which get's you concordokkened in high sec)

FALSE.

Yellow safety will allow you do actions that make you Suspect. A Suspect flag never summons Concord.
