I started with the launcher and it sat on 30mb for like an hour, so i tried the repair tool and it started fastish 1mb/s but once it got to 300mb it slowed down to 5kb/s.

Da fuq?? My internet speed is fine. Everything else is working fine. Awesome, not like I wanted to play after a long day at work or anything.

With ya myself man. Mine has been slow as fudge since the start.

EDIT: At maximum blazingly fast speed of 500 kb/s at most.X

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

Right under the spot for your login and password there's a small box that scrolls some ads related to Tiamat. That box has 3 circles where you can manually scroll. Click the circles, see if it kicks the download speed up for you.

My download bar was frozen until I did that, then it shot up really fast. Don't know why it would do that, or if it was a coincidence. Worth a click.

The status bar doesn't move unless the cursor is over the window. OP is not using the launcher, so this is not his problem.

Trying to download between 0:00 and 3:00 is probably the worst time due to high internet traffic in general.

2nd post-

I'm unable to get the patch process to initialize. I love the game, am only mildly mXd, but am going to demand 1B isk and/or limited editiSmilen ships because of the annoyance.

My download isn't working either. It updates once then freezes. And the download link in above thread freezes after a second or two as well (if it even registers the file at all). Just checked my speed and its up to par. I just resubbed after 2 years on Sunday. Really regretting it now.

Welcome back, I'm still having fun with the game -- it's a great game, just a pretty poor patch.

Don't get me wrong, I loved this game before i left (only left because I took a job that didn't give me any time to play). Just frustrated ATM that I can't get this thing to patch right.

Took 10 minutes to download/install... on a crappy comcast WIFI...

Weird how some people have a hard time What?

Edit: You guys should check if you are getting throttled by your ISP. I was until i talked (in a convincing manner) to my ISP (throttling is illegal where i live) and suddenly... everything is faster (yet it always showed between 40-50mb/s on speed tests, before and after).

Been around since the beginning.

I have a legit update on this. I don't think it is my ISP because Hulu, Netflix, email, etc are all working fine, and speed tests still showed my download speed of 20 mbps.

When I opened the EVE client, the download speed was literally CRAWLING. Within 15 minutes, I had downloaded a whole 2.72 MB's of the patch! (pre-56k dialup speeds).

I then tried the link above to download the launcher as linked in the forum. AGAIN, the download speed was CRAWLING, all the while Hulu / Netflix / Speedtest.net continued to show just fine.

I then did only one thing:

I connected to a VPN through Private Internet Access (a service I paid for a few months back).

Now within the time it took me to type this (3 - 5 minutes) I have downloaded 460, 461, 462, 470 MBs of the patch, and it is still flying by. I decided to retry the launcher. Likewise, the launcher (all 20 megabytes) downloaded in a few seconds.

CCP / Infrastructure guys, I believe this issue is somewhere between your end and at least the southeast USA. My VPN connected me to Dallas and then I noticed the speeds take a huge boost in speed. I am at 705 MB downloaded now.

My theories on this issue:

1) there a DDOS in the southeast region between us (I have Time Warner Cable) and one of the download servers, I'm connecting to map2.hwcdn.net, for what it's worth.

2) Time Warner Cable all of a sudden realized they hate map2.hwcdn.net and decided to throttle to .5 kb / s.

3) Something at map2.hwcdn.net decided to throttle the southeast USA (if only the people affected are in SE region).

I didn't know EVE was written in Ruby!

...watching my processes in task manager run the rubyw.exe interpreter while applying patch - at 40% applying now.

My advice - if you don't have a VPN / VPN service you can use, I'd definitely recommend Private Internet Access. When on public wifi with a laptop / cell phone, it keeps your data safe from rogue access points broadcasting as 'Starbucks Wifi' or 'Google Wifi' while they sniff the packets you send out and do nasty things with.

EDIT:

And I am in Florida as well, near Tampa!

Florida as well, Brevard county. Is there any way someone can host the patch? You should be able to export the latest update to a file...

Florida as well did a trace route to the game server here it is:

hop 8 is in the UK so here's my question, Is there a reason a connection from the US is being routed to the UK?

Seminole County here

tried repair also attempted reinstall and every time I try to re down load the game it's giving me like 10 KB down when I have an 80 Mbps down connection. I have tried every download appropriate regarding the game yet none of it will work. Yet I can access my account online without any issues.

Also interestingly enough prior to the update I had been getting disconnected from Eve fairly often yet infrequently.

If you can guide me and CCP won't ban me for doing it I'd be glad to.

I'm still a newb, and I like where this newb is going so far.
