New to posting on the forum
but i feel insurance should be fixed for t2 and faction ships
currently platinum insurance on a cynabal costs 3 mil and returns 10 mil it is clearly broke .
Any clue if this will ever be fixed or similar posts are up ?

I don't think that's broken. That's a good balancing factor, since T2 ships are superior in most other ways.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

The insurance system pays out a percentage of the materials resource value of the ship. That is why a Cynabal only pays out 10m. I do agree that T2 and faction ships should have better insurance values, I don't think changing the insurance system would work. However if they added a set +% value on top of the resource value of T2 and faction ships, it would address the insurance gap. Example being a Cynabal resource value is 10m. Set faction ships with a +100% value on top of resource value = 20m coverage. T2 ships add +50% value. Raven is insured at 150m and Golem at 225m. Tweak values but that would be my idea.

Insurance is based purely on the prices of the minerals that go into the ship. Nothing more.

For Faction ships... industry-wise they are no different than Tech 1 ships. The reason for their prices on the market has to do with their "rarity"... which comes from the difficulty in securing a BPC (there are no BPOs of Faction ships).

For Tech 2 ships... their prices are dependent on the cost to research a Tech 2 BPC and the prices for moon materials... neither of which are factored in to insurance.
The reason for this is that losing a Tech 2 ship is SUPPOSED to hurt. After all... you are paying extra for an edge over other players. You are not supposed to recoup that cost.

And hypothetically speaking... if Faction and Tech 2 ships would give back ~80% of the value I bought them for... I would NEVER fly a Tech 1 ship ever again.
