We need space mines.

Cheap, deployable, and when they blow up and damage somebody, the owner gets the killmail and the aggro effects.

They were in the game, they were removed for many reasons. Crazy lag and lack of fun being among them.

However, I could possibly have some fun with smart-bombing drones if those were in the game.

Disclaimer: smartbomb drones idea has not been thought through at all.

Smartbombing drones that damage each other?

The carnage...

I love this idea already.

EvE-Mail me if you need anything.

They where removed for a very good reason, some might say that bombers are reaching the position mines where occupying before being removed.

They existed, they increased lag and were generally more of a pain than a gain which is why I imagine they were deleted.

This is the first time this year I've seen this particular dead horse kicked which must be something of a record.

How about instead of deployable explosive mines, CCP adds a suicide ship that does damage based on the number of mines in the cargo?

Seriously, if you weren't around for them last time ask some people who were. The debate is already on about off-grid boosting and fighter-assignment and how they are detrimental to the game because they don't put ships on the field and imbalance fights. The idea of farming kills in a totally AFK method is patently game-breaking.

This thread again.

We used to have mines. People would spam them to infinity on gates, lagging the server all to hell. So they got removed. We will not see them again, me thinks.

Wow. I never knew they'd previously existed.

I can see the problems they could cause, but the explosions would be funny.

Oh well.

Hardly, mines were removed because people would put masses of them on gates and stations which caused the lag and past laying them required no other interaction so you could just sit there cloaked and wait for someone to come through a gate, undock, or warp into a belt.

A way to limit control of mines could be done much like drones or they could behave like bombs where you can launch the one, and possible time limits that are relative to flight time but just a timer that can counts from laying given a agreeable time by ccp
