Ever been in a situation where misunderstandings take place because you did not answer someones comment in a channel in time, or did not accept a convo request?

Who did not have to, at least once, type "Sorry, I was afk"?

I am thinking about a settable DND flag, something to indicate to others that I am not currently available, since I may be afk, involved in combat or just because i dont feel like socializing Cool
I believe it would be a nice workaround to the pointless talking to someone who is not actually listening, and also to the inevitable need to constantly apologize to others who expected a response.

It doesnt have to be visible to everyone, it could be just for ones contacts, or even visible in player created channels. Better yet, it could be channel-specific, making me appear as "DND" in a channel but not in fleet chat for example.

I cant think of a way this could be abused, its a minor thingy but it would slightly improve our communications.

Discuss.

Redundant idea is redundant. Recommend using forum search to find the identical idea posted several times already.

Edit: After a grueling 5 seconds using the forum search function, I found the thread you need to post in here. Tip: The "Topic" field of the search engine is your friend.

i did search for "Do not disturb" and came up with 0 results.
Note how DND is not the same as afk, technicallity you might say, but still.

Whether you want to call it "AFK" or "DND," the basic premise behind your idea is identical to the one proposed in that thread. A flag to list yourself as being unavailable for conversation is the same as a flag to list yourself as being unavailable for conversation. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's not a moose.

its not a moose but a different type of duck.
whatever you call it, my duck is slightly more detailed, proposing for a channel specific flag.

after all, you made your point, i dont think its your job to moderate the forums, if the mods feel this thread is redundant you can rest assured it will not insult your space conservation standards for long.

As said above by others, this thread is redundant.
