Jump cloning question

Hey all,

I have three jump clones in the Eve universe right now. One of them is in the station that I'm currently in and I want to jump to a clone located halfway across the Eve universe. Why is the prompt saying that my current jump clone will be destroyed if I make that jump? I don't want it to be destroyed.

YOU are also a clone.

So if you fly to another station in that same system and dock, then you will have 3 destinations to jump to.

Once you jump, the departure station becomes a jump clone, and YOU take the place of the clone across the universe.

So you will still have 3 destinations to jump to, two of which are in neighbor stations in the same solar system.

The message about clone destroyed happens because YOU and a clone are in the same station, so if you were to jump then you'd have 2 destinations to jump back to superimposed in the same station, and the game can't track two clones in the same station, so it will destroy one of them. Hope that makes sense.

Another way to think about it is you can only ever store ONE clone in any station.

The station you are currently in already has a clone stored so it is FULL.

When you jump from a station you take clone body out of storage in the remote system and leave behind an empty clone in the station you just left.

The station then tries to store that empty clone.

However in your case it cannot because it is FULL you already have a clone there. One of them must be destroyed you cannot store both.

TRICKY NOTE: You can actually jump to a stored clone in the same station you are in, as it comes out of storage at the same time as the newly created one is stored, nothing doubles up. Just never jump from a station with a clone to a station elsewhere.

This. I was in an alliance with a guy who ignored the warning and clicked ok without thinking and destroyed his slave clone. He was pretty shattered and not a lot of fun on comms for a while after that lol.

I've done something similar. Either that or pod expressed the wrong clone ...
