You can't do wrong with the Rattlesnake.

Here is a hint from about eight years of EVE level 4 mission experience, that is no level 4 mission in EVE that the Rattlesnake can not handle.

This fit is bad. Cap stability is unnecessary, and without rigors/flares in the rig slots the missiles won't do full damage to some BSes, much less to BCs/cruisers.

To the OP: If you're only using drones and not also using missiles, the dominix is technically better than the rattlesnake due to the range/tracking bonus on the drones, but if you're already comfortable with the rattlesnake might as well keep using it.

The strength of the Rattlesnake is having missiles in addition to the potential drone damage output of the Domi. It's a fantastic boat, but to really take advantage of it you need the missile skills to back it up.

This ugly potato can do over 600 DPS from over 160km (warden II optimal range is 162 km) with176 km targeting range (same drone control range) and you do not need to wait, till your misssles fly that far. With Garde II it makes almost 750 DPS with 65 optimal (100 km is still under Garde II falloff). I do not know what drone control range do you usually have in your ishtar or rattlesnake, but I seriosly doubt you can beat this in what regarding drones or price.

Lots of gallente guys use the dominix, but I prefer cruisers. Specifically I have ishtar trained up but I have been working on a proteus since it's a 'little' better for how I want to use it.

My ishtar build:

My shiney active fit ishtar. . Tanks 500 dps active with around 700 dps with drones and is cap stable. Admittedly I had to swap out a drone damage amp for a second power diag on my rig because of small overall cap reserve means it gets less than cap stable without the extra boost. snipe with your wardens until your enemies within 45k, then use gardes until 20k, then pull out the geckos/ogres. Works pretty well and I've not had any hairy tier 4 moments since.

I also found a way to fit a pithx large booster and a higher cap pool here. I never actually ran with this set-up but it should be tight according to the fitting tool on my phone. The pith x booster costs 100m isk less than the Gith x, but the Gist x is way better because it cycles faster.

I guess you should improve your fitting skills. I can easily swap the Nano for a 4th DDA. And a 500dps tank shouldn't be necessary in most options, so you don't need to be cap stable! (you'll never need to be cap stable in level 4 anyway) and can you your meds for other things like Omni-Tracking, etc.
I prefer passive Shield Ishtar Fits with 10MN MWD. Burn to Sniperrange, if necessary at all, drop Sentries and apply very well your damage!
Burn to Gate when only a few rats remain, which can be handled by your non-sentry-drones/ Warp out when mission is done. No need to have huge tank and you can more easily blitz missions for more income/standing.

Besides this I LOVE THE BIG 1.650dps BANG RATTLESNAKE!!!

@Kar'saran: If you armor tank it you loose a lot of damage. Why should you, when Ishtars can be flown much better / as well with Shield tank. Despite the composition of your fitting is not optimised (don't mix buffer and rep e.g.) your Fitting w/o drones costs 600M ISK. My Fitting costs 230M ISK and I do with the same drones (Augmented Ogre) 929dps (i.e. I have no faction DDAs fitted, just T2), even though my Fitting is not build to brawl with Ogres when having stageaggro, but mainly to snipe with Sentries (no drone travel times, no tracking issues, alpha Frigs, etc.) and mainly blitz missions.

PS: @Karsaran: if you really fly missions with your above ishtar, I strongly recommend you to stay alerted now or change at least the setup of your drone bay. Just your modules and drones, which all can drop are worth 1B ISK, too much with such low EHP value! They will find you and they will gank you with that fit easily!
