I used the (old) in-game map until this point. It was great, some people didn't like it and they used Dotlan, I don't know why, I tried Dotlan, didn't like it, it's confusing and I'm used to the in-game map layout. There were some small bugs in the in-game map, but nothing important (mouseovers working weirdly when 2 systems are close together, statistics not displaying sometimes on mouseover).

On the new map, I don't like that the solar system and the world map are built together, it's really annoying when you zoom in. Icons in the solar system pop up, the lines are weird. When you open the map it always zooms in on the solar system. I only care about the solar system when I'm scanning (or maybe d-scanning), having them separate was ok I think.

I always use the flattened map, the 3D map is confusing, I'm used to the flat layout. I don't want to rotate the flattened (abstract) map, I'm used to moving the map with the left mouse button, it'd be cool if there were an option to let the left mouse button move (drag) the map too.

Why did you disable the right mouse button dragging the map? I remember when the beta map first came to Tranquility we were able to drag the map. Please let us drag the map. It'd be really annoying if you could only move by clicking the systems.

I'm an explorer, statistics are really important to me. I always use the "Average Pilots in Space in the Last 30 Minutes" stat. In the new map it's hard to see the difference between numbers when you look at the circles, the size difference is so small. It's harder to see the colors too. In the old map it was easy to see the difference between 0, 1, 2 or more pilots. It was easier to see spikes, like trade hubs or big fleets. 1 pilot on the new map, 13 pilots. The small numbers get too big circles.

(When the map is floating and is small (I tried to use it as a minimap),) The names and security statuses of the systems are annoying, often can't see some systems. Option to disable this text (or only show on systems next to the active system) would be cool. Also option to disable region names.

The background could be darker or completely black, maybe an option to set darkness.

When you mouseover sometimes it's hard to see statistics because the popout text has no background and the map background and the circles are so similar in color. And the mouse is sometimes right on top on the popout text.

I haven't tried probing with the new map yet, I don't know if it works already, will try it when I'm exploring.
I like the idea of the floating map, I could use it like a minimap.
I'm sorry if I'm writing about things you're already trying to fix or features you already planned, I don't read patch notes or news. If something is a bad feedback in this post, just comment about it and I'll edit it. Also I don't know if this is the right place to post this, move it please if I did it wrong.

I completely agree with the statistics part, I was using the new map to try and hunt for some new systems for various activities and, although I love it for zooming around new eden, the statistical insight is impossible to visually digest usefully.

I would however would def like to see the solar system and universe map consolidated as the new beta map is trying to do. There's no reason to have two different tools for cartography of different scopes.

I must add that I completely agree. The old map allowed you actually SEE the differences in statistics. The new one is useless. Flip on the "average pilots in space in 30 mins" layer, and the entire universe is filled with circles that are almost identical in size. Systems with 1 pilot look the same as systems with 50. This applies to all statistics.

And yeah, we cant move the map anymore? How in the HELL did that get through the design phase? What good is a map if we cant bloody look around the thing!
