Bzzz BOOM! Pretty funny the way the projectile went side to side in th air.

that's because it was a test or so called lab projectile. the aerodynamic shape of that thing is debatable at best.

In this video you can see a real projectile for a few seconds, looks like it had much better flight characteristics.

EDIT: You can see that real projectile starting at second 25, to be specific.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Yeah, I can see that. The real challenge lies with making the launcher smaller now. Imagine it in assault rifle size. You'd probably be able to fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, and it would work in space too. Battlefield Moon.

Unless you can further decrease the size and weight of the energy source, have the weapon portable by infantry (going assault rifle size isn't helpful - the smallest size would be GPMG sized more than likely) then I don't think standard infantry would ever be armed with it.
