I actually knew Chris Kyle from my time deployed to Iraq with the 1st MEF, and I respectfully say you can take you portentous misinformed opinion of him and stuff it. You don't get the level of PTSD that he had by having racist or "serial killer" traits. Did he portray classics signs of combat PTSD that could be misconstrued as racism? Possibly, but it is extremely common to refer to the people you are fighting in a derogatory way and be wary about them (especially in a guerrilla warfare/suicide bombing setting). I had a hard time going to malls in southern California for years after I served because Mexicans and Arabs share similar features and I would have panic attacks, and I would like to saw I'm not racist.

All I am really saying, is should really know someone before you label them with something as vicious as "racist serial killers".

Guy wrote a book explaining how he killed dozens of citizens in a country his army had illegally invaded and called said natives 'savages'. Sounds like a real hero Roll IMO the Film 'American Sniper' is like Star Wars from the perspective of the Storm Troopers.

And +1 for closing this stupid thread.

CCP I bet if you polled how many American players were vets, you would find that most are.

Subject matter expert here.

Iraq is an ugly topic I've spent almost 2 years of my life with. I can't help but go back and forth on what and why we were there. I'd be the first cowardly american soldier to tell you that the Unites States invasion of Iraq was ILLEGAL and violated UN charters. I would ask everyone to judge the US for it's actions in WW2 when the UN was created rather than Iraq. But now we as a world no longer walk on eggshells. Other countries are not listening to the UN anymore either and that's frightening to me.

I won't defend Mr. George Bush, I think he and Cheney should be in court for the violations stated above as well as profiteering. Same goes for anyone that voted yes on the Iraq resolution, Clinton, Kerry, etc. (who ironically, are still in powerful places now)

The lesson here though is don't **** with the USA. Other members of the UN sescurity council were actually good friends with Saddam, like the French selling him a nuclear reactor in the seventies. He has oil and money will rule the day everytime. There is a facinating documentary on the man who interrogated, and even got to know Saddam here. Saddam didn't want the news of him having no weapons to reach the media, because it was all that was left keeping him in power. Perception kept him at the top.

I wish the USA was able to make this a UN thing instead of a 'coalition of the willing' but we were in a corner and we are gonna do what we have to do. It was 2003 and we were gonna bomb anyone not cooperating with our 9/11 sanctions. What?

Oil corporations in the USA benefitted early from the Iraq war, but no more. The new Iraqi government gives the big contracts out now to Russia, China and since Iraq barely has any refineries, they truck it to Iran! Iran has been the biggest benefactor since the invasion. Again, it's sketchy as **** that Bush's and Cheney's companies were over there.

Not to mention, rebuilding Iraq seemed like it was going pretty well until you look at those numbers too. I've seen bridge and infrastructure projects as high as 90% of the workers not being from Iraq. Iraq suffering from 30-40+% unemployment and the only 'company' hiring would be ISIS..

btw choose your poison. Fox News, BBC, ABC, etcetc. they don't sell the news, they sell advertising space. They make more by telling you what you want to hear.

Mismanaged from the get-go in 2003.. but the biggest mistake was leaving him there in 1991.

Did I say he was a hero? No I did not. Do I think all these wars are stupid? Yes I do. My comment was directed at the psychopathic racist part, because if Chris Kyle was such then any person who have fought in a war and used derogatory terms towards the people that they were fighting are as well. You're going to have to peg a lot of people as racist, your own countryman included.

Whats this? the 27th revisionist explanation for why US oil barons went into iraq using taxpayer funded muscle to achieve personal wealth and power?

Being boots on the ground doesnt actually give you a legitimate perspective on the events surrounding that war. In fact, its probably detrimental to your understanding of it.

Again, the iraq war had nothing at all to do with 911, beyond a dishonest pretext sold to benignly ignorant US citizens.

I have no problem with the US using unilateral force in the middle east. Even without our tampering their regimes are utterly broken. I just wish we didnt have to hide behind a wall of lies.

Who's the ignorant one

The entire US government apparently, since even they walked back any link between iraq and 911 in favor of a 'liberate X from the tyrant' motif. Sure they were happy to keep implying a link to those that wanted to believe in a boogey man but couldnt outright say it. Fact is all evidence pointed towards elements in saudi arabia even back then.

There was nothing for iraq to 'cooperate' with for the 911 investigation since no evidence lead to that country. This is the first time ive ever heard this notion TBH and sounds like a rationalization/justification independent of any facts.

The invasion was for oil. Nothing more, nothing less.

You really have to hand it to the propagandists who sold the post 9/11 war on terror. Masterfully done. Bush & Co never really had to utter the biggest lies themselves with Rush Limbaugh and FOX news carrying water for them.

And the tiny pinches of truth the sprinkled in... perfect seasoning to help the **** sandwich go down.

Informed and respectful discussion is always welcome. However, this thread has already gone past that point and this isn't really the venue for such a discussion anyways.
