Hello experts,

I have Mining, Mining Barge, Exhumers, Drones and Mining Foreman trained to level 5. I've looked at other leadership skills but they don't look relevant. I also have a mining implant and generally mine in a fleet of 2.

Short of training for and buying an Orca is there anything else I can do to up the yield?

Once your yield is maxed you can start killing other miners to drive demand up. Twisted

Nope. The Orca and Rorqual, along with the Mining Foreman "Warfare Links" they can use, are the only ways to increase yield.

Also...

- I'm getting the sense that you want to mine more ore at a faster rate in order to bring in more ISK. Sadly this will not be the case.
The ISK you earn is dependent on Supply vs. Demand on the market. If you can bring in lots more ore, so can everyone else... resulting in a glut of Supply on the market and devaluing your ISK to ore ratio (while your ISK to time ratio will stay the same).

- Don't dismiss the leadership skills. They give small bonuses to HP, speed, agility, targeting range/speed, etc. and eventually lead to true "Warfare Links" which can substantially boost the defenses (passive, active, or remote), speed, agility, and targeting range/speed/resistance of your ships... meaning you have better odds of surviving gank attempts or avoiding unwanted encounters.

For yield:

Ships:
* Mining Frigate
* Expedition Frigate
* Mining Barge
* Exhumers

Other Skils:
* Astrogeology
* Ice Harvesting
* Gas Harvesting
* Mining Upgrades
* Mining Drones

Then there are Reprocessing, Social, Trade, and hauling skills to get the most out of what you harvest.

The problem with mining, is that there isn't a lot of skills for long-term investment. One can get into fleet boosting, but that is a whole 'nother ballgame (if you are boosting, you are not mining).

My "mining-only" character became a drone and medium-sized hull specialist, after exhausting mining skills.

Thing with mining is that if you can haul some 15 000 000 units of various minerals you and turn those in to a BS you can potentially make a 200mil/hour.

To have those kinds of numbers you need miners, lots of miners and security and then everyone needs to get paid as well.
With perfect Rorqual links it's not impossible but you still need quite a lot of people involved.

Just be aware that a full flight of maximum-skilled mining drones is about equal to a single Miner II.

And if your aim is to make ISK, there are many better options than mining when it comes to converting your at-keyboard time into in-game currency. You may even find that hauling ores, minerals, components and items back and forth is more profitable for the time involved, than mining, refining, manufacturing and assembling those things yourself.

not just with this but other questions of "how can skills help improve this activity" questions you can open the ship in EFT and select "all level 5" from the character selection drop down and see if they yeild or dps or what ever stat you are looking for goes up and if so by how much. You can then open your character in the character editor and change skills around to see which affect the desired statistic and by how much.
