Honestly, I think the Moa may be the most superb model revamp EVE has ever seen. The combination of a sleek-yet-powerful profile, simple engine layout, sensible gun mountings, and moving parts really took one of the ugliest vessels in the game and made it a star. I'm currently training towards Amarr, but am having a hard time tearing myself away from this ship. It wasn't just a good job, it was the best job. Bravo, CCP.

But I continue to train Amarr. Why? Because my progession options (other than the Eagle) coming out of the Moa are just bad. Yes, there are a number of other Caldari ships that still need a lot of love, but I'd put the two other gunboats -- the Ferox and the Rokh -- at the top of that list. Aesthetics mean a lot to me, and both are too fail to fly.

Let's start with the Ferox. Yes, this old warhorse obviously has more supporters than the Moa's old model did. But I still see it as a tired, directionless mess -- it's all wings with a flat front; it's hideous. The Ferox is one of those models that I look at and say "okay, where is the bridge on this ship; where are the engineering spaces?" But there are no clear answers to those questions, because the hull is a chaos of conflicting ideas.

The Rokh's basic design is better, but its overall lack of detail is just brutal. Compare the Rokh's model to just about any other BS in the game -- it's incredibly plain. While Caldari ships are rarely graceful, they typically feature a lot of delicate parts -- antenna arrays and winglets and such. The Rokh is just shorn of all complexity -- it's a big, blue log floating through space.

There are other candidates, of course, but I think those two should be front and center for future reworkings, even if their models are newer than other options.

I think out of all the Caldari ships, only Bantam remains in the need of a redesign, but would it matter because noboby pilots Bantams anyways.

Althought in general sense, despite many ships have been redesigned during the past couple of years, I still believe there are more pressing matters than mere redesigns. Not exactly a high priority in my books.

All posts and mails screencapped and time stamped, including out of EVE, you will not reverse on me.

Might come in handy!

I think only caracal and osprey need redesign, everything else is fine in caldari lineup

I wouldn't mind a redesign of the Osprey. I played around with the idea of using the Navy Osprey in PvP, but I refuse to use ships that ugly.

Man, the old Moa model was as awful as the new one is awesome.

I agree that the Bantam and Osprey could use some changes as well. Caracal shouldn't be changed too much. Ferox and Drake already look great imo.

Look at this http://oeg-home.ru/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/09_1680x1050_by_oeg_kovad.jpg and you'll never see the Rokh the same again :]

Osprey could be made VTOL like real Osprey Big smile Eg. if you want to pitch/yaw, your ship's hull would remain planar and only engines would angle

Hands of from Ferox, i've started to play this game because of this hull. Caldarian in every aspect. Fat bird of prey. Some textures and animation would be great, but whole concept of the hull is awesome.
Caldari ships are meant to be plain. Let's link some blocks here and there, few plates of armor, some wires and voila! caldari hull.
Look at new moa hull. It has some reseamblce to the old one. Instead of one bag we have two now. Some sort of head with beak, ship looking like charging ostrich. Fat one. Is it preety? Depends, i love it.

Caldari ships to change bantam (remind me why i would ever pilot this ship?), griffin and it's t2 (something like new blackbird - lots of antennas).

The sad thing? I'm a railfan IRL and always thought it looked like a train.

don't you dare touch the ferox! that said if they want to get rid of the drake model... and I always liked the rokh model, but never really fount myself wanting to fly it, I suppose a little pass for more detail could be cool.

wouldn't mind a bantam redesign.

i reckon gallante still needs it slightly more when you look at the helios, also still waiting for the doomi remodel. also a cleanup of the thorax model would be perfect.

the only problem I have with the Caracal is that, it seems out of proportion. It looks like a fighter instead of a cruiser.

though this is a common thing among quite some of the EVE ships.

Caracal/Cerberus. Such an ugly HAC for such an awesome name. And Nighthawk. Agree 110% about the Moa. Not bad stats for a T1 cruiser, as well as being beautiful. Makes me want to train up a Gun Skill.

The Ferox and The Rokh are two of the nicer looking Caldari ships. But the ugliest of Amarr ships looks better than the nicest Caldari ships so you should just continue training into Amarr and don't look back.

Be careful asking for new Caldari hulls.

The new Moa is really nice. Big smile

Then, there's the new Blackbird hull.... What?

1st the moving parts serve no purpose other than eye candy and make the ships look utterly silly
2nd dont touch my ferox
3rd it would be cool if when CCP release a new model there was still an option to buy/manufacture ships with the old model, i understand ships and design evolve but it doesnt make sense that all the ship already assembled change their appereance in the blink of an eye, leave some space to the vintage market

Going to second this. I really like the new Blackbird. In a way, it kind of reminds me of a miniature Raven.

I'd just want the Ishukone ships to have different colour because this gold/yellow isn't exactly Caldari like, it's way too brash and silly. The Lai Dai ships need to have their rust/orange colour band changed back to deep red.
