A Quick Question about Exploration Skills

Hi guys, I had a quick question. I recently got into exploration as I already had skills to fly cov ops, etc. and it seemed pretty coo cats. I was wondering A) Profession-wise is it still considerably lucrative to explore WH/null/low--and B) what skills would I need to run the hardest ones (WH I'm guessing)? Do I really need to get arch and hack to V for t2 analyzers, or can I make due with slightly less (i.e. those respective skills at IV instead)? 24 days isn't something I want to devote time to if it won't be worth it.

A: You can make pretty good money in W-Space doing data/relic sites as well as running combat sites in null and selling escalations.

To answer B you should go look at an older forum thread where somebody had the same question. TL;DR some cans are hard to open even with the skills leveled to 4.

My advice is double your bang for buck - Max your scanning skills - it's only 5mil sp or so and use a sisters expanded probe launcher with sisters expanded probes. Have some buddies near by and an offline covert cyno and you can make mad bucks while scouting for your buddies.

To reliably do null and WH sites you need T2 analyzers and maxed skills. You need to be able to quickly scan down and hack sites before you are found and blown up.

Of course you can attempt this while the skills are leveling.

In the context of this thread, pretty much this.

Max skills eventually, but I have no problems reliably running null and WH sites with these skills using SOE ships on my exploration alt.

Max skills are handy if you want to use non-bonused ships for exploration. My stats unbonused with T1 rig for archaeology are 120/30, which allow me to hack the hardest cans with a success rate of about 80%, recently a bit more due to the distance numbers.

I'm my own NPC alt.

you certainly do not need t2 modules to do red cans

you just need to be good at the game.

T2 analyzers are well worth it. They also help you speed through mini-games where time is of the essences like in ghost and sleeper sites. Do it for the relic analyzer first if you're not sure it's worth the time to you.

Taking all the scanning skills to V didn't give me as much gain as I was expecting so I'd probably wouldn't train most of them past 4 for any other char.
