Why does a ships orbit still change when we turn a prop mod on or off?

This seems like a 'little thing' that should have been changed by now.

It has to do with the ships agility, I order to maintain the proper orbit distance you have to throttle back your velocity or increase the distance at which you orbit.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

because when you turn it on you may not be able to maintain as tight of an orbit

likewise when you turn it off you can maintain a tighter one

That's not what I'm talking about,.. I mean the actual direction of orbit changes when you activate or deactivate a prop mod, for no discernible reason.

Probably because, since the orbit has to change, a new orbit is initiated and that means a new direction.

this

and the older the code the harder it is to change (orbit is very very old code)

And how does that warrant a u turn? It would be a lot more logical to fly in a straight line to a distance where you can maintain a stable orbit with as high speed as possible. This would keep up your transversal and radial velocity and would reduce your exposure to enemy tracking. Not to mention, as far as I understand mass, inertia and velocity, suddenly added mass does not make you stop and turn around instantly, instead it catapults you forward in a straight tangential line on your current orbital path. Then again ... EVE and logic are two things that don't go well together a lot of times.
