ONLY in Player Vs Player As it would be dumb to have to deal with this in Ratting.


What if instead of Line Of Sight dynamics some have suggested wont work for eve We did it a little differently,

Instead of objects blocking shots what if different areas gave different effects to Combat.

You enter a asteroid field you have a chance that shots hit you less or do less dmg.

Or a GasCloud inhibits tracking sensors

Or certain areas people can hide from Directions scanner

I'm not suggesting these examples are to go into effect but the idea behind them.

How cool would it be to have Strategic Options available for PvP

This is completely different than Line of Sight. There are no objects you have to interact with.

I know you say just throwing these out there but.....

many things cover this in game already. All you have to do is bring the right ship and/or fit the right mods.


Recons can't be d-scan'd now for example.

Fit TD, effect tracking

Run some halo's, drop th sig a little and see less damage (missiles directly since sig ties directly into damage, turrets can get less good hits indirectly).


Put another way...do we need special areas to this when mods do it. We can argue wh's have effects. We can also say if you like these well....go there. Well that and with wh's with the bene's of the effect they hurt something else. Armour versus shield in a wolf rayet....I am liking armour's odds off the bat. Basically to be like a wh but localized, you eyeing some downsides to this? Hide in the belt for one effect lets have something else go to utter crap.

All EVE PVP has come down to is just useing Range as Tactics in huge balls on Gates. Or People cherry picking PvE guys outta Anoms. Oh Boy Thats Tactics there.

3 month old char and oh so bitter already...lol.


Tell us where the main is (be vague like alliance or region of space hunting atm if you'd like) so we can get an idea of what your ops are like. Sounds like main is in a low sec or 0.0 entity that cba to run a proper roam. You chose your home on the main if so.....deal with it.

I would just be happy if the collision object was a little smaller than the visual mess instead of vice versa where you get trapped on something you should not hit.

Regarding the OP:
I can agree with strategic on grid effects. I like the basic idea.
