Task Orientated Missions (T.O.M's) are missions similar Sansha Incursion sites where you have to mine a rare form of ore to then place into the station to destroy the station to complete the mission. Other T.O.M's for Sansha Incursion are having to turn off remote repair towers, place automated repair units into a station where if you miss a rotation then you have to start over again or hack into towers to turn certain towers on or off to raise or lower shields to keep NPC units trapped while you complete the mission.

Cross indexing missions types would also be interesting. For example you are running a combat site and you come across an unknown cargo container that just says "Maybe I should keep this for another mission". During a courier mission your agent tells you that you need a certain cargo container to complete the mission. Well what do ya know, the cargo container from the combat mission fits that certain need to the letter.

Have task T.O.M's in all levels of missions and types of missions will make mission running more exciting instead of just plopping the Kronos in the center of the room, firing the Bastion up and saying "Come get some."

Yes indeed, I agree and what you're talking about is basically Cosmos Missions.

Definitely check them out if you haven't done so already. For difficulty level they're a step above regular missions in that a level 1 Cosmos mission is equal to a regular level 2 mission.

Cosmos missions not only have the 'Retain Item Until Needed' synopses, they also incorporate a 'Seek & Secure' aspect as well.
