Why did the Prophecy have to become the drone boat?

I just don't get it. It's the better looking of the two Amarr BC hulls (well, normal BC hulls -- I don't really count the Oracle since it has a very narrow field of utility; if it was viable in solo PvE, I'd fly the Oracle and this thread wouldn't exist) by a long shot.

Not only is the Prophecy's model superior in just about every way imaginable -- with its traditional, wedge-shaped form and bold, hooked prow -- the coloring is also way more tasteful and sensible. The Harbinger has this patchy approach, with plates of gold, the 'tan armor' and the black almost speckled all over the place. By contrast, the Prophecy is very well-appointed with its color scheme (black on bottom, armor on top, gold only serving as accents).

I just don't know why the Prophecy was chosen as the Amarr's sacrificial drone lamb. I understand and appreciate that the 'Amarr drone player' is something CCP has been trying to cultivate for a long time... but, let's face facts: most of us who fly Amarr fly with lasers. And the Harbinger is a wicked ugly ship to be stuck in for a lot of different circumstances.

Now, I know this change wasn't that recent (at all). But I still look at the Prophecy and wish it could be restored to what it once was when I flew it so long ago.

I too like the "plucked turkey" and feel like crying over the injustice done to it.... Sad

I never see anyone flying them, for one. A few years ago they were so common, and I haven't seen a single one since resubbing.

More to the point (since this is an aesthetics issue, after all), I feel like the visual cues from Punisher < Maller < Prophecy < Apocalypse just frankly make a lot of sense. They all share a lot of similarities in appearance, whereas I feel like, if anything, the Omen and Harbinger look more like the Armageddon.

By the way, I honestly don't feel like the Amarr should have ANY T1 drone ships, at least not at the expense of what used to be good laser boats. I thought what was done to the Armageddon was perhaps even more inexcusable than what happened to the Prophecy. This was, however, somewhat mitigated by the upgrade to the Apocalypse, which is quite possibly the best looking Amarr ship now, and it's definitely what I plan to fly in 4-5 months when I have enough skills to manage a BS.

But, at this point in my skill training, I sure am missing that Proph. My Harbinger makes me want to vomit into a storm drain, it's so ugly.

A few things:

1. I resubbed a few months ago, and I really don't see many T1 BCs at all. I don't think it's just the Prophecy you're not seeing.
2. There are only so many ways to make laser ships. Sure, you can make tanky laser boats, fast laser boats, and laser boats that track really well, but they're all still...laser boats. Every other race has more variety (hybrids/drones, hybrids/missiles, projectiles/missiles), so Amarr going lasers/drones makes perfect sense.
3. What are you complaining about again? The Prophecy is a fabulously flexible ship. So is the rest of the T1 Amarr drone lineup. Train those drone skills (because EVERYONE uses some drones) and you'll never complain again.
4. I have to agree with you that the Harbinger is ugly as sin. If you're looking for a laser BC that is less hideous to look at, try a Gnosis. Great platforms, anyone can fly it, and totally weapon agnostic.

EDIT: It is, in fact, the Harbinger that is ugly as sin, not the Prophecy. May Empress Jamyl forgive my transgression.

It's the amarr bastardisation of a rattlesnake (drone/missiles)

Since it does neither very well, it's only really used as a baitship because of its resistances.

Dude, I cant express how much I do agree with you. My wife hates Eve, but from all ships she saw so far only Prophecy was called "beautifull ship" by her. When I did L3 missions I tryed both hulls and man, Harbringer is so ugly I was even glad when I lost him. Like Boeng with cutted wings and completely removed tail. And they changed Absolution to that model. Grrr. Old Absolution was my favorite ship long time...

Why I telling you this: Prophecy firing all 6 hard points will look much better, than Harb.
Just make those hardpoints symmetrical , please, please, please !

Harby is my fav hull in game and the abso looks awsoum so don't git them to **** up my fav ship plz

The only major drawback is the crazed notion that the inventory would look so much better if merely rearranged ONE MORE TIME.
