OK, first off i have never used these.

I was actually pondering going in a caracal with these into null just to troll but then i read a bit and saw that these are no good for anything. i feel that we should either remove these completely or make these useful.

Option for usefullness- Giving these missiles modes.
PVP mode- Target any ship not friendly, fleet or corp.
PVE mode- Target NPC ships
Strucutre mode- Targets Structures.

I feel like if these were to be implemented they need a delay of use after switching modes, im thinking 5-10 seconds.

Feel free to critique, add, and what not.

I await your thoughts

Auto-targeting missiles are fine, I've used them in pvp and I use them all the time in pve now that they don't attack structures (I'm using them right now in fact, I'm flying a Gila). They are fine for what they are intended for.

Ewar in small scale PvP. If you get red boxed by any kind of ewar boat that prevents you from getting a target lock you can use auto targeters to pry them off.

Like being super lazy in pve (my FoF missile Gila can solo 9/10s and makes short work for forsaken hubs). Like letting you multi box way way easier. Like letting you surprise those snobby ****-sure EWAR guys in pvp (I have a ECM-burst, after burner, FoF missile Gila fit that I named "luls Mr. Falcon Guy").

I've used FoF missiles religiously in pve for years (even before ccp buffed them to not shoot at structures a couple years ago). When I live in tribute I did anoms and complexes with a machariel backed up by 2 fof Tengus. In Fountain I used a Vindicator/Tengu combo, in Querious it was Nightmare plus 2 Fof Navy Ravens.

I've also used FoF missiles on Typhoons, Typhoon fleet issues, Barghests, Rattlesnakes and Armageddons. FoF missles + Drones = lazy win lol. FoF plus Sentry Fleet Phoon can do 1100 dps for example.

I still call them FoFs even after the name change, but auto-targetting missiles rock if you know how to use them. Better for pve than pvp but can provide a nice surprise in pvp.

I've toyed around with them too. My one complaint about them is that they don't work if you do actually have something targeted. It'd be really cool to have a rapid light launcher loaded with FoFs (I still call them that too) that you could turn on and swat down hostile drones without having to target them. As they stand now, you have to unlock anything that you do have targeted for that to work.

Still useful, I just wish they were a tad more useful.

Lets take my l4 raven.

Cruise missile range: 93 km
Autotargeting cruise missile range: 220 km

Gurista/Serp ew: my cruise missiles don't do jack because I can not lock rats/my targeting range is down to 20 km.
Gurista/Serp ew: my autotargeting cruise missiles are killing rats and make my wallet blink every X minutes because my autotargetting cruise missiles don't give jack about rat ew.

(Sarcasm On) Yep, they are useless! (Sarcasm Off)

You need agro. Once you have agro, turn fof on and sit back and relax. In missions I use tp to get agro. So technically I only need to target one rat.

FOF missiles are excellent for PVP.

I once tackled a Caracal in a gank Falcon, had him nicely jammed out, scrammed and webbed into an Honourable Solo Duel and was blapping him when he loaded in auto-targetting missiles.

I ended up having to warp out in structure.

If FOF missiles were not in the game, that Caracal would have lost the Honourable Solo Duel.
