Unified overview/dscan/anomaly scanner

I love the fact that the probe and dscan windows have been separated. It's awesome. But now I want to see CCP take the next step and provide a unified way to present ALL spatial entities together.

What I propose are two relatively simple conceptual changes (functionally these might be nightmares, I dunno).

1) Allow us to have more than one overview window. Instead of a single overview window, we should be able to open multiple instances of the overview window, each with its own unique settings for tabs and columns, but otherwise sharing all the other settings (color tags, available presets, etc.)

2) Fold dscan results and anomalies into entities that can be displayed in the overview. Basically there should be another selectable option in the Tab Presets -> Types area that is "Anomalies" (ideally even further subdivided into the group types of anomalies; combat vs mining vs fwar). If selected, everything that currently shows up in the probe scanner when "show anomalies" is selected would instead show up in the overview like any other celestial entity.

Likewise, add a Tab Presets -> Types that is "Dscan Results", and again if selected that overview tab would show the last set of dscan results mixed in with any other items.

At this point you could remove anomalies from the probe scanner window entirely, leaving only actual signature-based scanning items in there. Likewise, the dscan panel would no longer show results, it would just show the controls for the dscan settings + the scan button.

If multiple overview windows are allowed with unique tab settings, you can recreate (mostly) the current state of affairs no problem. You can have a tab/window dedicated solely to dscan results in a separate overview window underneath your dscan control panel, your regular overview as-is, and a third overview dedicated solely to anomalies that you dock as a co-tab with your probe scanner window.

But now, of course, you would have the flexibility to do so much more with your layouts instead, if you wanted.

In a "phase 2" pass I would even argue that the signature/probe scanning results should be merged into the unified overview as well, with the probe scanning window then becoming JUST a control panel like the dscan would. However those entries are sufficiently unique with custom functionality that I can see this being a lot more tricky. The dscan and anomaly results however have identical info and conceptual relation to the items already being shown in the overview (particularly when it comes to the near arbitrary distinction between landmark beacons and anomalies; though I can guess at the under-the-hood reasons this distinction arose historically).

I very much like the modular nature of the different windows.

I can have just what I want, where I want, when I want it.

I want my d-scan window separate from my overview. I see no reason why I should not have my standard combat overview up and then also my d-scan window up without my d-scanning polluting my overview.

As far as the anomaly scanner goes, It's something I use for a few seconds at a time, easy and convenient with a separate popup window I can store in the corner of my screen without it effecting my overview or needed to select and deselect overview tabs to access.

Finally, I have 5 tabs. I have a normal PvP tab, and anti-frigates, an anti-bomber, an anti-logistics, and an anti-dictor tab.

I don't see why I should have to dedicate three of my five available tabs just to get the same basic functionality I can currently with the d-scanner and anom scanner. Sure I can just reload and relabel them when I need to, but it's definitely not a point in your ideas favor.

You missed the entirety of bullet #1 I see, which is that we should be allowed to have MULTIPLE INSTANCES of overview windows, each with their own settings for tabs and columns. Even without the dscan/anomaly unification as proposed, this would be awesome for many fleet things (e.g. a friendly/fleet overview in a window separate from your pvp/hostile overview; both always visible, not tab based).

kabump because even though my bumping module thread is getting way more attention, this is the change that would actually make a far more significant impact to my day-to-day gameplay and the one I want most :)

i would very much like to see MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF OVERVIEW WINDOWS. <3<3<3
BUT keep probe and dscan seperate from this for now. not needed as much imho.

optional addition: independent sort and filters.
optional addition: custom sort metric. (i.e. r=sqrt( ((optimal-distance)/optimal)^2+(tracking/angularvelocity)^2+(gunSignature/targetSignature)^2) ) now i just have to shoot the top target for best projection, but loose awareness completely. luckyly there are other windows i can get my awareness from.
O_o

EDIT: search function ftw
