So I am pretty sure on this but everything I have found in searching the internet has been to vague for my liking.

Okay so I am in a Normal corporation/alliance and roaming around Faction warfare space in a frigate. In a system I engage (I shoot first) a player part of a Faction Warfare Corp/NPC corp. Do I lose standing to that faction for shooting them?

TLDR- I am not in Faction Warfare and I shoot someone who is in Faction Warfare. Do I lose faction standings in any way?

If anyone needs clarification on my question ask please as I want to know how this game mechanic works inside and out.

From what i know of K-Space mechanics, yes shooting someone in low sec will drop your sec status, even if they are the FW.

If they are flashy red or Suspect then i don't think you take a standings hit... but hell K-space is so complicated like that.

Your standings with FDU, State pro, 24ic and TLF will get wrecked pretty quickly but your faction standings should be fine so long as you don't start shooting a bunch of faction rats.

I remember podding a single TLF player and getting to like -7.6 with TLF. Ofc I am like -9.9 to them now if I were to switch sides to Minmatar (or in your case joining a side) it would take some plexes or l1 FW missions to get me up to being able to run them.

So I only lose Standing with Militia NPC when shooting FW pilots. Not to The Gallente Faction overall
