Of course there was a new ban for the "bowhead" incident.

That started me wondering about exploits.

Is it an exploit if something you do isnt intended the way it should be by ccp?

If so did ccp intend the mechnism in space to be as bad as it is when we llok at bumping.
Did ccp intend it to be let a small shuttle be able to bump a ship the size of a cathedral or was it just that the programmers cant get their formulas right?

If they intedend it this way the we strike Eve is real :)
If they couldnt get it to work (yet) then bumping is an exploit.....

Your choice :)

If you think it may be an exploit, it probably is.

Apart from that, bans and exploits are not to be discussed on the forums.

So, say again?

tl;dr: I think bumping is an exploit, right?

I'm pretty sure at some stage already CCP had said something along the lines of it not being an exploit as such.

Don't take it personal.

Asking questions in GD is like trying to sell a wormhole in Wormholes forum. Never ends well.

If you think something's an exploit, you do it once, then check if it's reproducible once, and then report it and ask whether it's an exploit or not and you stay as far away as possible from doing it till you get an answer. (and dont try to sell anything related to it either)

CCPs view on how things are intended to work changes over time, so you never can tell. Be prepared, if you get close to the line. It's never a good idea to do things in an excessive manner while you are close to the line. CCP might decide a reaction is required.

Edit: Grr forums not showing changes in an edited post.

Considering that a Gallente Shuttle is 52-82 meters long, and an average Gothic cathedral is 48 meters long... I think it's perfectly reasonable that a shuttle is able to bump ships of cathedral size.

The fun part is that they will absolutely refuse to tell you, even if you ask beforehand, but have zero issue perma banning you for not knowing where the line is... despite the fact that they refused to say where, when you asked.

The wisest course is to try your hardest to never get the GM team involved in literally anything, since they just make things up as they go along. Including, but not limited to "you can be perma banned for impersonating yourself". I wish I was kidding.

[edit: I forgot a really good part. If by some happenstance you are perma banned, and you decide to appeal said ban... your appeal will likely be answered by the person who banned you in the first place. Just so you know for sure that there is no oversight in the whole process.

Only thing I can think of was that guy who solo ganked a bowhead that had logged off using cats but that wasn't an exploit.

He got banned last week, actually. That's what the OP is referring to.

Someone is having a giraffe if he got banned over the Bowhead incident...

Also IB4L for discussing "exploits" and bans.

Clearly an exploit. What do you think the 15min criminal timer is there for.

He got blown up by concord so he wasn't avoiding them. What he was doing was ganking the bowhead, concord blows him up,he then docks, undocks in a nubship, gets the concord spawn to warp to station to blow it up, warps to orca, gets in a new gank ship and ganks the target.

Its effectively just pulling concord around, a tactic used by both miners for protection and gankers to remove concord spawns in places they want to gank. CCP said pulling concord around isn't an exploit.

IMHO it'd only have been an exploit if he'd managed to warp any of the ships he used or somehow escaped Concord retribution, neither of which happened. However, I'm only a customer so my opinion is worth diddlysquat as far as CCP are concerned.

Do they ever announce these? Or do we find out about them through third party social media?
