Interest in playing Eve sober?

This is just to see if there is any interest in a corp that flies sober. I will explain a few details to hopefully make some sense for why I would want to do this.

I have been taking a break from Eve. I sold most of my gear and bought a bunch of plex to keep them ticking while I do other things and decide if I want to try Eve again.

Personally, I enjoy the concept of Eve very much. I enjoy pvp, especially when I can participate in hard fights; fights where the odds are tough or flat out stacked against me. To me this is something like a difficulty setting on any other game. It is occasionally fun to blow through an easy mode, but I personally get a lot more enjoyment out of trying something more difficult.

The problem is I have been having trouble finding a group of people to fly with who want to take challenging fights, or are even capable of taking those fights. Of course I could simply solo more, and I do end up solo a lot; but I would really like to find just a handful of other people who really want to push themselves in the game and see what they can do.

I think in many respects the fact that most people seem to be playing impaired effects being able to make the game more of what it could be. I don't have anything against drinking or smoking, snorting, shooting, or whatever. It just seems that many/most corps that I have tried recently seem to more often evolve into more of a wasted hangout than a hardcore gaming session. I would also add a lack of sleep to the common impairments, no disrespect intended to anyone actually suffering from insomnia.

Far too often it seems that people don't have the attention, focus, or simple clarity of mind to be able to keep up in situations that demand a little more from them (such as difficult pvp). The way it seems most of the corps/alliances I have tried recently are coping with this is they tend to take easy mode fights. Now it is true that sometimes they will get wasted then yolo into a terrible situation as an alternative, but that isn't' really quite what I am after either. Most people are unwilling to take a fight where the odds are at all questionable. Or if they are willing, they are unable to perform well enough to make a fight much more than a roll of the dice. The game it seems has often come down to more about catching a victim rather than picking a fight. It is true that sometimes this can lead to a fight, but the good fights are far too rare.

I would like to play with people who want to play (and are capable of playing) Chess not Yhatzee, Poker not Uno. I would like to be part of a unit that resembles a military unit more, and less of a mob or gang. I want to play with people who see the game as more of a team sport than as a bar game. I would like to be part of a unit where we can learn to depend on each other and work together to achieve difficult goals. I would like to play with other pilots who see the solution to a problem as learning to do better, more often than just getting more numbers.

In essence I am being somewhat myopic and asking for other people who want to play the way I want to play. I recognize that not everyone wants the same things from the game as I do. I am simply asking if there are others who think this sounds like an idea they would like to try.

To me the beauty of the game is in challenging myself to become a better pilot. I find that I can improve myself more easily when I am sober. If I am impaired I often only learn that I would do better if I were not impaired. If I am sober I can take a mistake and learn a lot more from it and improve myself. So often people use the excuse "sorry dude I was wasted." If I know they will likely be wasted next time as well, then neither of us has learned anything except that I can't depend on them to back me up. "Sorry dude I should have paid more attention to my heat damage" is more of a learning moment, and I can hope that both of us will improve and try again next time.

If there is anyone who would be interested in being involved in a sober corp you can respond here or mail me in game. I really don't think I want to try running a corp on my own but I would be willing to share leadership with a few others.

I am in the US, but my actual TZ varies. I would be open to most ideas of where to stage out of but would tend to prefer WH space or Null sec. The details are really far less important to me than finding people who I want to fly with.

I know I can expect a fair amount of flaming in response to this. Please note I am not saying the way you play Eve is bad if you are not sober. I just want to see if there are some other pilots who would like to fly the way I like to. I am not trying to ruin anyone's fun, just open a new opportunity for any of us who would have fun in a different way than the more common corp cultures in Eve at this time. Also, if you are going to flame, at least try to be funny or original.

Thanks,
-JT

No replies after you wrote a novel? It's a hard read...so much so that I had to go grab a beer to make it through to the end. Afterward, I had to go grab another beer to say cheers for making it through to the end Roll
Never realized it was so hard to have a beer while laughing so much. So I remedied that by going to get another one!
Cheers Lol

I think its great what you are looking for man and would consider it myself. Wish I had a place to point you toward. I would also like to say shame on the people who posted above me for berating somebody who would like to fly sober by posting nonsense about liqueur. Go back to WoW or keep your mouth shut if you are going to act like that.
