Overview Settings help?

Can anyone point me to an article on overview settings that is not outdated. That specifically deals with the new ability to save and load these settings.

I have 3 accounts, each with 2 characters, and 3 computers. This leaves me with 3x2x3 = 18 different overviews since they don't appear to carry over from character to character or computer to computer.

I would also like to merge two overviews that have been optimized (one for mostly PvE and the other for PvP) and then make them the same for all characters. I might load different tabs on different characters but I would like the same settings available everywhere.

I have had trouble finding a comprehensive resource that has been updated after the last revision, so if anyone has any links it would be appreciated.

Thank god for the new overview sharing option in the settings. That lets you do just that....share your overview with others.

Now just import it where you need.

This Overview guide is very up-to-date. It covers how things work in the overview and how to save and share, both offline and in-game. You don't need to worry about the specific setting used, but those give you a really good idea how to set up your own.

That is a very comprehensive overview pack.

EDIT: Though not perfect. It is well suited for empire space but some tweaks are required if you for example live in Wormholes.

Well my guide isn't updated but it explains the basics of modifying the overview. There's just been a few GUI changes since then (which generally make it easier). Perhaps I'll get around to updating it soon...

What you are looking for is the share option. Perfect your overview settings on one character, then send a mail to your other characters with the link to your settings. You can create the link by dragging the "share" button at the top of the overview settings to the mail (or any other text box like a chat window). Then anyone who clicks it can load the same saved overview profiles. I use this to synch up all my overviews on different characters.

If your looking to share more than the five presets loaded into the five available overview tabs you'll need to share by using the out-of-game method by exporting and importing the YAML file of your overview profile. It's possible to share more more than 5 presets using the in-game link sharing but it's a pain in the butt, and the YAML export/ import is quicker when you need to share more than what was "live" in your overview at the time you create the share link.

Anytime I do a public class on the Overview, you're more than welcome to attend it. I'll try and make a post on that forum thread when I do. You can also monitor our (EVE University) Scheduled Classes forum thread.

I plan on doing another class before the end of January.
