Clone Upgrades

This might have been answered before however.....

I keep reading conflicting information about medical clones and the need to upgrade them to protect skill points in the event of death.

Several articles and bits of advice have talked about upgrading my clone from the basic model to a better model to ensure I protect all the skill points I have accumulated in case of death however a second document said;

"The default clone that you are issued after death is free and sufficient to protect your skills on death. You no longer have the option of purchasing higher clone grades."

So what's the true?! Despite my best efforts I can't find anywhere in-game to buy an upgraded clone. I have successfully located the screen where I can change my clones home station but no option to upgrade from my current model!

This was changed very recently (~3 months ago?) by CCP.
You no longer have to update your clone (nor can you). The articles you read are outdated.

I actually think it was about a month ago but yes it has been changed. Not only do you no longer need to upgrade you clone but indeed you can not even if you wanted to. Clone upgrades have been removed from the game as well as the need for them.

Brilliant thanks for clearing that up!

Now I can stop worrying about it and it should save me some ISK as well!

Confirming that most medical clone stuff you can find is horribly out of date.

Yay never again shall I purchase the wrong grade clone...

The last time I lost a pod I was a wee bit tiddly and purchased a clone that could hold more SP than my 3 characters put together will have for the next year or so.
