Next time, as CEO, take all the corp shares for yourself

Some genius left 50k shares in the wallet, I had 45 k. And my other trustworthy directors all hard around 10k, but they were either A. On Vacation B. Asleep C. Had their house hit by lightning.

It takes 1 share to win a vote, if nobody else votes. Only shares used to vote matter.

Typically the CEO should take all shares. When the CEO steps-down, they should transfer all the shares too.

It is best to use a title (always assign roles using titles) with all roles for enabling others to be virtual directors, as virtual directors cannot start votes, nor perform sanctionable actions (i.e. actions approved by voting, like share creation and BPO lockdown / un-locking, renting offices, paying bills), nor declare wars.

Don't give out access to the master wallet either.

Example: When I became CEO, I transferred CEO to my alt, and I'm not a director. I only have enough roles to do what I need to do, so if I decide to leave my own corp, my full API key will not expose info about the corp.

Its always opposite for me. I give someone director and they usually vanish, as in stop playing, a week later. If I make you director of security... you never come back.

But as said, make new corp, invite old members, (you can use evewho.com to see a join and part list) take all the shares as soon as you make new corp, and start over.

Seriously CCP, shares either need to be removed or completely redone to be useful. They are the most pointless feature in eve.

No old guy.

They are very useful. They male these things happen and show that there are still people after 11+ years who are to dumb to do some research and prevent it from happening.

Stuff like taking ALL shares for yourself...there is NO need to give them out. If you want votes...use Google drive or something for a poll.

Stuff like, why give random "Member 2947205" director roles after 'x' months.

Both are just stupid mistakes by the CEO, removing shares wont fix stupidity.

Simply adorable.

I hear this line ALOT from highsec corps who get this treatment... guess how many actually do it? None.

Chances are youll **** and moan for a week, maybe start some other threads about the subject, and then about 40% of your members will follow you to a new corp, where youll enjoy wardec after wardec, and maybe a safari or two, and we will be right back where we started here on the forums, probably in C&P where youre prooflessly calling someone a corp thief and trying desperately to hire mercs to 'go get him' because you simply cant be arsed to get off your nullsec main to deal with your highsec alt corps problems. Que 'The circle of life' , forget about it all and move on.

I work with a guy that thinks like this. Every single situation presented to him, whether it be hypothetical or real, he always assumes the absolute worst case scenario and calls himself a realist, not a pessimist.

The truth is you spend too much time reading about this subject and have grown bitter and still feel the need to post.

Pick one of the 3 underlined things and continue to do that 1 thing. Don't do the other 2. We all thank you for your consideration and maturity in this matter and look forward to not hearing from you in the future.

Giving random guys director access to your corp... Shocked

EDIT: "house hit by lightning" is one of the best excuses I've ever heard for not being online. ^^
Reminds me of that guy I was playing with, we were on TS when he suddenly, calm as calm can be stated "Cool, some lighting just struck my backyard... Oh look, the ground is burning, I think I'll be offline for a little while now..." Lol

That guy should consider himself lucky, I had a lightning strick my internet cable, back when we still used copper ones. Suffice to say, I had to replace some parts in my computer.

Yea, some dude came in and was normal for first couple months, so I gave him director. The second I saw the wallet journals, I removed director, but as I did that, the corporate vote came in. Is there really anything I can do besides hunt him down and mount his frozen corpse on a wall and evac the remaining members?Ugh

No.

We hoped WiS would let us create corporation bars or hooches where we could put corpses in huge glass jars or mount them over the bars.

But too many people were "Muh ISK!" or "Muh killboard!" so we can't have any immersion. Sorry.

BTW the best way to avoid this problem is to keep the corp wallet empty. Use it on a SRP.

What thuh hell is with giving everyone and their cousins director role? Is this some sort of right of passage?

"We like you. Here's the keys to the house."

Director roles in this game are not awards to people after their 10-day trial period is up and they haven't
pissed anyone off, or they seem real clever in voice. GET A CLUE PEOPLE!

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

I must say "house struck by lightning" trumps "cat ate my homework".

On of my alts is in a corp with the opposite problem, the guy that has all the shares has not been online for 3 years.

General rule of thumb

give no one the ability to effect your corporation in a negative way unless you live within walking distance of their house, have a plan for the disposal of their corpse, and youve made those facts very clear to them beforehand

the only exception to this is if your in an alliance that is so large that its practically a glacier, no single event will stop you from chugging along, thats the only time your safe giving people you cant harm physically director roles

^^^^

This, so much this. Although I'd add "within driving distance of a few hours". A few hours drive is more than worth it to kill and bury such a person. Though granted, your at a higher risk of being caught afterwards if you didn't plan it out well.

I can fix your corp. Hire me for a week. Give me the director role. I'll have it back to normal in one day.

Are you new here?

EVE life != Real Life.

Every single person sticking up for the "bad guy" in EVE has repeated that line.

Once upon a time the Golem had a Raven hull and it looked good. Then it transformed into a plataduck. The end.

afaik these days the API allows for a completely separate corp api to be created. Just looked and there is a character/corporation toggle. looks like it will only show character or corp info.

I had 2 experiences with lightening. Well the first I didn't see, but during a storm, lightening hit the rental townhouses right across the street from my house. Punched a hole in the roof and started a small fire.

The second time was really cool. I was driving down a road at the edge of town. Right directly in front of me about a 1/4 mile I saw the biggest, thickest bolt of lightening I ever saw hit the ground. I saw the sparks shoot up in the air a few hundred feet. Then I heard the loudest crack of Thunder I ever heard in my life.

But what was really cool, a friend of mine worked in a big garage about 1/2 mile away from the strike. The building he worked in had NO windows. But when the lightening struck the ground, the entire building lit up inside, then the power went out...very cool...
