Exploration 'mini-game' query.

I thought it might be good to put my question here as it might help new players complete the exploration 'mini-game' more successfully.

I believe the most recent changes to exploration, in addition to removing the 'loot spew' mechanic and adding the 'mini-game' to all relic/data associated cans in New Eden, also made another change.

Previously when I played the mini-game before the latest changes you would get a 'treasure chest' (Wrong terminology I know.) which you would left click, or not, and the loot spew would begin. Now it seems the 'mini-game' decides when you are successful after a 'gate' with a higher 'coherence' or wherever has been 'hacked' open.

To my query now. My above exploration activity was on cans not in official data/relic anomalies. So I would like to know are successful hacks completed on the standard relic/data anomalies by hacking a 'gate' with the highest 'coherence' now as well ?

PS Apologies for use of incorrect terminologies above. Smile

I have no idea what you are talking about. The minigame is the same just with no loot spew. You overcome the hazards and open the can by clicking on the unlock icon. You get two chances. Some are harder than others. Null is a lot harder than High-Sec.

It is simple as hell really. Just need good skills.

The mini-game has not changed at all since it was added to TQ. If anything some were made harder or easier, but the basis hasn't changed.

You have to defeat the core to finish the hack. Data caches were just power ups that helped the mini-game but never did more than that.

Yes I had noticed the mini-game has been made harder. With the cans I am opening you have to clear virtually the whole of the mini-game screen before the can is opened. So even with all skills at five and T2 analysers it's a close run thing to succeed. There isn't an unlock icon on the ones I am doing. They end when you open the strongest gate thingy.

The point of the mini-game is to find and hack the system core. It's the only thing you *need* to hack, though some other firewalls, anti-virus, etc will get in your way.

The system core is randomly placed (it seems to be anyway). I've before found it two nodes in, I've before had to clear the entire grid.

Don't clear anything you don't need to. If there's a firewall that's not in your way, ignore it.

If it is too hard I hear mining is rewarding.
