So since I was using navy wasps I had no provlem with drones that got aggro from rats...until tomorrow. A single site killed like 5 navies... bad luck or did something with. the AI change?

some rats seem to have more drone hate than others.

If it is in a normal site you do often then did you train any skills that would give your drones more damage? and/or forget to activate a target painter or some other mod?

or maybe like you say it is random luck, a few extra good hits might have been enough for rats to switch aggro.

Same site, other system.... skilled drone navigation and durability.

I found out interesting thing. If I take an aggro in Rattlesnake with missiles and after this launch 1 Gecko, then at some point all frigs and cruisers will switch target and start attacking that Gecko.

If I take an aggro in Gila with missiles and launch 2 med drones, then at some point only frigs switch target and start attacking med drones.

So I have a feeling that frig and cruisers switch target if they see a heavy drone. Only frigs switch target to med drones.

This seems about accurate. Also those webbing frigs will web and start to really hurt your drones.

But all this is moot in a Gila or a Rattlesnake because of the ehp boost to drones and that drone durability rig you are flying with makes them able to tank half a room and still keep killing right? Right... right

Some rats attack drones. Is that so hard to grasp?

Like most mechanics it is chance based. Random is Random. It works the same way with ewar and rats, sometimes running the same mission will result in a tremendous amount of ewar while other times they won't even activate it.

From what I have observed with Drone Aggro, this seems to be the rule of thumb for rats.

Basic Frigates attack Medium Drones and up
Elite Frigates attack Light Drones and up
Basic cruisers attack heavy/sentry
Elite cruisers attack Medium Drones and up
BCs attack heavy/sentry drones (Rare)
Battleships I have not noticed changing aggro to drones once pulled

There is always a small chance that they will aggro drones that are not listed as such here, especially if drones are out when you pull. This is the basic rule of thumb I have seen trending however.

sounds right, there was a more official source for this a while back but for general use this probably works fine.

You can also eliminate aggro almost completely but you lose a few slots to mods.

For example if you are remote repping a sentry while target painting and also running some other sort of EWAR (or possibly NOS? ) your drones will be pretty much ignored.
