anyone have any information on CONCORD? a friend of mine was asking why they're so powerful, why its bannable to escape from them, and the believes they should be at least escape-able after attacks in highsec, which frankly i agree with him. but he brought up a few good points, why doesn't concord attack rats when they warp in on you when mining? why don't they stop them when you're in a mission? i can deduct a few answers, but if anyone has any exact reasons or anything, that would be nice.
any other general CONCORD information would be nice. thanks in advance.

Who escaped from them?

no one that i know of, but i know it's happened, and those people have subsequently been banned for it, since its allegedly an exploit. which i understand since webs, scrams, jammers, and other ECM.

Because CCP says it is.

Because you yourself are the most dangerous weapon in existence: A Capsuleer. CONCORD feels you can fend for yourself. Also, CONCORD hopping in on my bounties? No thanks.

You've made like 2 threads about CONCORD and quite frankly they are both just awful.

Please stop.

They're so powerful because it's a game mechanic. Whether you like it, or not.

We are to assume that CONCORD governs capsuleer and Empire relations, and I think Pirates are left up to the capsuleers and civilian forces to kill on their own.

CONCORD doesn't really like to interfere much and just allows fighting ("with rules") everywhere (Factional Warfare). It was formed by all 4 empires to govern relations. I think CONCORD would also destroy civilian entities who have initiated hostile acts against one another.
CONCORD encourages pirates to be killed by capsuleers with bounties.

That's my understanding of it.

CONCORD only deals with Capsuleers, not common rats. The empires put bounties on the rats and called it a duty fulfilled.

There is no particular lore behind their firepower, it's just a game mechanic. I claim Jovehax.

That line makes no sense to me.

CONCORD encourages the NPCs to let themselves be killed by capsuleers, who have bounties?

But I cannot confirm whether that was just a one-time glitch, or an actual bug, and, frankly I don't want to. My alt lost enough Security Status attacking my ship.

CONCORD, encourages capsuleers, to kill pirates, so they put a bounty on the pirates.

thank you, as ill continue to ignore the other rude posters between both my concord related posts. you are useful and informative, so kudos to you. the person im asking on behalf of doesn't actually play the game, but likes the idea of it, he's reading these posts as they update. do you happen to have any other information on them? like do they go to war with anyone in particular? or are they just strictly anti capsulere crime police

CONCORD is a privately contracted enforcement organization with specific responsibilities delineated to them by treaty agreement between the factions; Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari and that other one...starts with a G....ummm...anyway.

Capsuleers apparently were a significant factor in manning uncontrollable military force in the cataclysmic war which the factions don't wish to see repeated, so as was said, the factions view capsuleers as a threat to their sovereignty, or actual existence, and contracted CONCORD to respond to US.

Pirates, or NPC rats, are a minor impact on areas in solar systems and do not comprise a threat on the scale we do, therefore WE are encouraged to extend the reach of the factions (through a bounty system) to keep them somewhat
at bay.

Where you fail to comprehend is here - CONCORD is not the authority. The FACTIONS are. CONCORD does what they've been told to do. Don't complain about CONCORD - or question CONCORD. That's like holding a buck private up for the Normandy Invasion.

"Listen, private So-and-So! Why did you attack THIS beach and not THAT beach, HUH???"

"Well...uh...would you like a Hershey's bar?"

See? That's just dumb.

PS CONCORD can and has been tanked. Mighty fleets of criminals have defied their -10 sec status and gone shopping in Jita - en masse. As you can imagine it takes force, skill and coordination, but it can be done. It's just that, you'll never be that good. So, don't go and get the idea that just because YOU aren't über, nobody else is.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Sorry Serene, CONCORD was made to be neutral to empires. The empires don't really have control over CONCORD... At all, anymore.

Quote:
The Minmatar Republic and the Jove Empire once cooperated on a joint project to ensure the Secure Commerce Commission would act under strict codes of neutrality, similar to other empire-run institutions such as InterBus.

Quote:
For the first few decades of its existence CONCORD wielded very limited power, but in recent years their authority has grown alongside that of inter-stellar trade, which is becoming more important by the day throughout the world of New Eden.

Quote:
The only hold the empires have had on CONCORD, that of financial support, is waning day by day as the revenues garnered through customs, confiscation of illegal goods, selling licenses, and more, are steadily increasing.

...

The empires haven’t been bothered to interfere with this development as, on the whole, CONCORD is doing its job very well and there have been no major cases of abused power

Uh...neutral to empires... means they aren't after the factions. They are after US. Sorry. Serene's right.
