Cloaky ships

Just had a thought about bombers and cloaking. as i was in a bomber and knew there were other cloaked ships nearby i thought i know they r there but cant see them. What i wish i had was a paint bomb, same area of effect as a normal bomb but when fired cotes all cloaked ships with paint so they show up. Anyway you get the gist. you guys can play with the idea or not :)

It would just be a novelty item. Next christmas we'll get some as christmas gift.

It never really made sense to me why AOE damage doesn't decloak ships, so I kinda agree with you. If you launch a bomb where you know there's a cloaked ship, it only makes sense that it would decloak it.

The problem I see is what happens at gate camps. Right now cloaks, next to interdiction nullifiers, are the best ways to slip a gate camp. You jump through the gate and land in a bubble. You hold your gate cloak until you can find the orbiting decloaker. You fly some direction and instantly recloak then change direction. If he doesn't get close enough, you reach the boundary bubble and warp off.

Now let's assume you can decloak a ship using bombs. Your camping group is sitting at the wormhole cloaked up. You see the gate flash and a new name appear in local. You all launch your bombs at the gate. It's pretty hard to miss if everyone was positioned correctly. You catch the ship in the explosions. It's decloaked, and it's done for. It's far easier than the old way of having someone orbit around with 5 drones and some tractored cans.

Now if you would re-write the proposal so it would come down to introducing an involuntary paint job bomb *), I would let it stay open for the novelty of it.
