You might try salvaging one.

Better that than the trolling you are about to get for being such a lazy twit.

They don't drop loot, therefore they are useless. Confirmed.

Back story. When the sleepers awaken, then you'll get it. Circadian. Hmmmm what could that mean.

p sure that's random coincidence. there's no need to tinfoil about some deeper narrative here.

Not all stories involve you shooting or being shot at.

(Although maybe the good ones do)

Today after reinstalling the game happened I rewatch the opening of eve online.

The first terrestrial ship reminds a lot those sleeper scouts, that shiny warp drive in the back, the command section that became the head, they just lack the tiny arms.

Would be totally awesome if the sleepers we are seeing now are from earth!

The part I like about these drones and the unidentified structures that come with them is their locations.

Systems with no stations, often far from systems with stations that are arbitrary in nature. So when whatever happens in EVE happens in relation to them they won't effect people who step in to EVE ankle deep but anyone stupid enough to drop a POS in an arbitrary system is going to see huge downtime while the awakened sleepers create anarchy.

Bait and switch EVE. Though to be fair, CCP can't win for trying.

Is it weird that I haven't actually seen a Sleeper Scout in-game yet?

You need to log in to see them.
On a serious note, they randomly spawn in systems so depending on how much you travel, not really. Or if you're in a sh, I don't think they're in there.

Done around 300 jumps in the past week.
Maybe it's just simply that my Overview is not configured to see them? But I'm quite attentive when flying around, and zoomed in, so I was just surprised that I haven't caught a glimpse of them yet.

I had assumed it would be pretty obvious with the analyzing effects that they create.

The Seekers are usually in systems with unidentified structures (to spot the structures easy, don't forget to turn on sites on overview)

As the Seeker NPC's (red cruisersized crosses) travel alot in system, it's easy to miss them, as they jump to belts, stations, POCO's, gates, etc.
The fact you travel zoomed in might be another reason you missed them, their ships aren't that large and they often say quite a distance (+- 15 - 50 km) from objects once they travel to/away from a place. Zoomed out, their red crosses can be spotted easier.

On the usefulness of the Seeker ships currently, I can be clear:
On hard gameplay (interation by shooting/activating modules/communication), they don't offer much, an NPC with a fancy lightbeam that doesn't do something and doesn't have any apparant benefit of shooting them (no loot or bounty & negligible salvage)

From a more lorewise approach, the gameplay is in the mystery: why are they there, what are they doing and for what purpose are they 'scanning' ?
Possibly clues are hidden away in the lore & history of Eve, along in the various content you can visit (the new shattered wormholes, old sites getting a new meaning etc)
In this viewpoint, Sleepers add alot to the gameplay. This is reflected in GD, as it has been a long time since there were several large threads on lore & mysteries in Eve in the GD section.
