Rework the Jury Rigging skills

Hello, As you may know, to install a rig on your ship you need the right "X Rigging" skill in the Rigging subsection, as of today you need level 1 for TI rigs and level 4 for TII, In addition (I believe) you can ask a friend to rig your ship for you and still use the TII rigs without the skills.

I thing it should be change to give more usefulness to these skill for level 2 3 and 5.


Here is what I propose :

Level 1 give access to

Small rig I

Level 2 give access to

Small rig II
Medium rig I

Level 3 give access to

Medium rig II
Large rig I

Level 4 give access to

Large rig II
Capital rig I

Level 5 give access to

Capital rig II

There would be no modification to previously rigged ship

You can now rig your ship without the skill requirements fulfilled, but you then suffer the full drawbacks. Reducing the drawbacks is the only point of the should, and it's a powerful point.

I agree that the rig skills are fine. The OP seems to be concerned that there are no prereq requirements for them. I would like to point out that in order to build T2 rigs you need the rig skill at 4. In order to build T3 subsystems you need Jury Rigging 5. The skills do function as preprequisites, only in the area of building, not fitting ships.

And yes, I do agree that the drawback reduction is a sufficient benefit to motivate pilots to train the skills. I am currently training up rig skills on my combat pilots just for that reason. Even training the weapon rigging skills to 5 for the fitting merits.

No adjustment needed in my opinion.

Ok thank you I was unaware of the need to have the skill at 5 to manufacture !

I think do to this though some of the rigs with no draw backs need them

And rigs with useless drawbacks need to be re done
