Destiny and why it sucks

Although Destiny has been out for a few months, more and more people are buying it. I myself bought it, and I had a blast until...

Destiny is a fun game to play until level 20. At level 20, bad things start to happen. In order to level past 20, you need to acquire gear that contains Light. The more Light, the higher your level. However, to obtain armor with Light you enter the vicious circle of grinding.

Grinding is the action when a player does the same activity over and over and over again to gain XP, loot, cash etc. It's the equivalent to, say, grinding grain for flour until you have a satisfying amount.
I'm a level 24 Hunter at the moment, and although it does feel very satisfying to help noobs out and sit atop a mountain of corpses in the Crucible, it is starting to feel very dull.
For the last 2 weeks I've been grinding for an average of 8 hours a day. Every morning I would wake up, break my fast, go jogging and then hop on Destiny. It's starting to feel like a job, and it's not fun anymore. Matches get frustrating when you lose all the time, and your Crucible reputation, even when you're doing the bounties, levels up with a crawl pace. It's been angering me so much that yesterday, I got so sick of it that I just shut down the TV and swore to never play that dreaded game again.

Until level 20, you have the story missions that keep you relatively satisfied, but even they become repetitive, as it's just something like "Shoot this, kill that, protect Ghost, die because of Ghosts' stupidity and mistakes, kill boss and do it again". Still, visuals are great and they make you think how beautiful the game is.
After over 50 hours of Crucible, my rank is still 1 and I'm only 25% through to level 2. Then, I need to raise my Crucible rank to level 3 to get some stupid commendations. After seeing this I realized that beyond level 20 this game is nothing more than an endless grind-fest. After you complete the infamous Vault of Glass raid on Venus with all your Legendary gear, you have to grind EVEN MORE so you can get the Exotic weapons, like Vex Mythoclast or Atheon's Epilogue.
I feel so sorry that I wasted so much time for this useless grinding spree. If you value every moment of your life, do NOT buy Destiny. It is f**king terrible to play Strikes and Crucible so you can get to level 30 all day...

Destiny becomes the most ridiculous broken grind I've ever seen after level 20. I swore off that game weeks ago

These days it´s almost impossible to find a game that doesnt set artificial "milestones"/obstacles to force you into a grind.

it´s a staple of game design since game devs discovered the huge money printing machines tablet games were.

From a simple aspect they are right. Repetitive tasks are actually a threshold of equilibrium between perceived rewards and efforts by appealing to a simple method.

Worst part is that although a core group of "gamers" can actually "spot" these not really hidden pre-sets, they are usually not the target demographics of such products.

Like I once learned in College while studying Psychology as a joke, it turned out to be very true in the end.

"The Only constant in all your failed relationships/endeavors/business/plans/goals/milestones/needs/etc is just ... you"

From my side of the fence I think that certain gamers feel out of the loop or bored with most content these days it´s because they are just too "old" for it.

There is no REAL money (and profitsssss) in making games for the "purist" cadre of people.

Indy games are our only and perhaps last boat these days to avoid drowning in these sea of strangeness and absurd design choices, but they are sadly toppled by their own existence, they rarely go mainstream (and those that do are eventually bought off by big corps) and or make enough of an impact except for a select group of historians/feel good nostalgia seekers.

But I could be wrong, I am just a human after all, and I still believe there is someone somewhere (perhaps not born yet) that will give us new forms of playing games that totally skip the now almost 20 year old mechanics of gaming. Perhaps it already exists somewhere and it just needs the proper push.

Though I find grindfests inexcusable these days and in this age for some reason they actually appeal to a profitable enough market. We just need a new type of investors/developers and creators.
