It appears what you see is not what you get when it comes to Avatar creation. Every time I create a new mug shot it looks fine in regard to shadows from my end and even once I've completed it. However it always changes to what you see now several hours later after the server does what ever it does to the images..

I always end up with "blocky" looking shadows.

Proof that WYSINWYG.. This is a SS of what my current Avatar image looked like prior to the server messing up the shadows.

have to post link to image
Avatar Image

As you can see in the original image the shadows look fine yet on the server they are completely screwed up. Is there maybe some setting that is screwed up somewhere that I need to check or uncheck?

I did some testing with a trial account.. creating new chars.

I noticed the blocky shadows appear to be connected with the hair style that both myself & Reloadin have chosen. This seems seems reasonable as it's only the avatars forehead that is affected by the "blocky" shadows. If change my hair to a different style I loose the funky shadows.. So it's it's something to do with the hairdo..

I'll leave mine for now so the devs can see whats up.

(btw I'm trying to play space barbie dolls and I'm really not diggin my nose. any chance one of you devs could slip me a char redo.. pretty please)

Seems like it. As if the rendering software loses transparancy data at some point in the process.

Anyway, the devs will know whats the problem for sure.

Same issue here. I petitioned it and got info back from the GM handling the ticket that the devs were looking to fix the issue in a patch scheduled end of January. Fingers crossed.

i also discovered that issue and made a submission into the bug tracker.
It could not be a local problem, as the first "photo" taken looks fine. The repair.exe also does not find any problems with the EVE installation.

Several days later the problem expanded: You are also unable to fine tune the lightning with the " <> 1/7" settings, or change the intensity of the lightning.

Looks like the shadow issue was fixed by the last patch. Confirm?
