Is it worth putting anything less than large guns on a Maelstrom?

I see the Maelstrom gives bonus rate of fire to Large Projectile Turrets.

Currently all I can fit are t1 medium projectile turrets, however I'll have the training to fly a maelstrom in about 3 hours. Would it be worth it to put the aforementioned mediums on the thing or is that a gigantic waste of a ship.

I'm not really sure how to ask , so if that didn't make any sense, Medium Arty on a Maelstrom , yes or no Lol

Edit: Thought it was damage bonus until I checked just now

t1 large are better on a mel

The only major drawback is the crazed notion that the inventory would look so much better if merely rearranged ONE MORE TIME.

And sitting in a ship is not the same as being good with that ship.

Look carefully at the bonuses. Except in very very very very very very limited circumstances (which may or may not exist) you should only fit a ship with the weapons that it is bonused for.

So Battleships are bonused for large weapons. Fit large weapons only.

Generally speaking, the only time you will want to fit undersized weapons (i.e. smaller than the bonus the ship gets) to any ship is if you are flying a specialized/niche/weird fit that leaves you no fitting room for them. Preferably, these fits will not be overly concerned with their damage output because it will likely be less-than-stellar. If you simply lack the skills to use and/or fit class-appropriate weapons, you're trying to fly the ship too soon.

Train up those gunnery skills.

I can't think of anything I'd use a Medium Turret Maelstrom for, except maybe L2 missions. In which case the Hurricane is just a better ship all around for those.

I suppose I should have said it's for PvP. I fly a medium/small turret mixed Hurricane right now for low level missions

a bait ship should be a little smaller.....never.....NEVER......fit small guns to a mael.....

even more so grab a shield boost amp.

and a blue pill.

and then good skills.

and then own face.....you need smaller, go with a cyclone or vaga......just dont fit a mael with smaller guns.....
