Will there be any subscription sales in the next day or so? My trial runs out soon and was thinking of upgrading but not paying full price on christmas time on a sub game....I see lots of other games have subscription sales but not EVE? I know about the plex sales and steam sales etc, I am talking about actual subscription sales?

I tried to ask support but not heard anything for 6+ days...

Cheers.

Really. If you like the game...just sub

If you dont, dont sub.

I dont see why a special offer (btw that PLEX sale is the Xmas offer) would make you change your mind if you are going to sub or not. That makes no sense.

I just find it strange in todays times where sub games are pretty much extinct and a lot of other sub games offer subscription sales at christmas time that eve is not at the moment.

I don't like the idea of paying every 30 days to play a game when I won't be playing for those 30 days 24/7, especially at full price at christmas time.....

Surprised eve does not go free to play. It already allows players to buy characters without even earning them through playing the game and in game money ISK with your credit card and paypal with out even playing the game....plus has microtransactions as well...I mean they have already made eve head towards a less hardcore and more casual friendly game while making things easier and quicker to achieve, seems like the next logical step they are heading for....

Amazon is running a starter pack sale right now, if that's anything.

Not really, I am looking for subscription sales but thanks any way. My buddy won't get his plex reward unless I use subscription, can't use plex, can't use pack codes or codes etc.

Is actually really annoying because I wanted the starter pack to get the fast training Prototype Cerebral Accelerator implant for first 14 days....but I had to miss out on that. :(

Archeage is that way.

Adults can afford 15 bucks a month.

When you upgrade your trial account, i think there is a special offer: $49 for 6 month, or $99 for 12 month, which means only $8.33 a month.

I think this is as low as you can get. Amazon price tracker shows lowest price for 12 month sub is $99, which happened during last year's xmas.

Really if you have a hard time affording 15 bucks a month perhaps you should be looking for a job instead of playing video games.

Oh I forgot. Everything should be free. Music, movies, games. Fck the folks who need to make a living producing them.

well eve is the only mmo actualy worth paying for so thers no need for it to go f2p

Also, the cost of subbing two accounts for a monthe in eve is the same as the cost of a nice bottle of wine or one houre in the pub...for a months worth of entertainment. its a bargain as it standsBlink

It's not a months worth when you don't play 24 hours a day 7 days a week because your 30 days is ticking down all the time, not just when you actually play...

no one plays 23/7 but you still have acess to the servr for the requisite ammount of time ,
and unlike every other mmo you will get your month's sp regardless of how long or often your logged in Blink

Ooh look another EVE should be F2P.

Pleas name ANY F2P that exists for 11+ years, gets free patches every 6 weeks and isnt pay2win due to microtransactions.

Please, do that.

If you dont see a point in paying monthly to keep people employed, server maintained, new free stuff added.

Hell, it is only 15 euro/dollar a month (if you do monthly subs - goes down to about 11 a month when you buy a year). That is pocket change for anybody with a part time job or better (and personally a night out with friends equals about 3 months of subscription easily and I do that quite often).

Not to mention that if you buy a typical other game, it is an easy 50/60 euro spent, and you dont play that for 4 months 24/7 either.

Allow me to share this perspective with you....

- a bottle of so-so wine or 6-pack of beer is about $10 and usually won't last 2 or 3 days (maybe not even a day if you're like me).
- a NICE meal at a restaurant is about $10 to $15 and won't last more than 30 minutes to an hour.
- a monthly gym membership is about $10 to $20 a month and (on average) people don't go to it more than 3 days a week for an hour or two at a time.
- 5 gallons (19 liters) of gas/petrol can easily exceed $15
- a good night at the bar with friends will EASILY cost $50 and MAYBE you remember about 3 hours of the experience, followed by hours of pain the morning after.

- EVE costs about $15 a month (less if you get an extended subscription) and allows you 30 days of unlimited access to a world where you can freely interact (for better or worse) with several thousand similar people (see: nerds) in ways that can keep you occupied for hours.

tldr: you have probably spend more money on dumber things in the past.
If you pay video games with any regularity and have "the itch" when you look at this game... then the sub is probably going to be worth it.

Okay... a few things with regards to this statement.

- Reasons why Free to Play will never happen in EVE (tldr; the game simply can't support such a system because of the way it was designed)

- Even if a player manages to grind up the necessary amount of money to buy a PLEX... they are still not playing for "free." PLEX can only be generated when a player buys them from CCP (they are ~25% more expensive than a monthly subscription).
Basically... one player is paying for the subscription of another in exchange for in-game currency.
Also... PLEX was originally designed to fight Real Money Trading. All other effects it has had are secondary.

- the "microtransaction store" is something that many players merely tolerate or are apathetic to... and only because a few years ago we (the playerbase) rioted and got concessions from the DEVs. The promises were that it would be used only for "Vanity" items with maybe some services here or there.

- EVE is still both "hardcore" and "casual" at the same time. But I believe you are referencing the skill system.
There are more than a few skills requirements for things that are "messy" to say the least... and trimming them to make more sense is a good thing. But it doesn't make things "easier" by any stretch of the imagination because the main "hurdle" is still there; other players.

And your skills are ticking away at the same rate.
And your market orders tick down at the same rate.
and you PI stuff keeps working at the same rate.
so do the normal production lines.

Also, please, go ahead and pump some money from your CC into the game to buy a good character. You will find 2 things out from that:

A. You will end up as the ALOD on all the news-sites.
B. You find out that EVE is more about player knowledge then that it is about SP.

But, please. It clearly shows you do not want to sub at all. Leave it be and dont come complaining here that it should be free or what so ever just because you are a cheapskate and dont want to pay 15 euro a month. You are NOT a special snowflake. EVE will NOT change to suit you as you are just alone vs a lot of people who love the game for what it is.

I think this is as low as you can get. Amazon price tracker shows lowest price for 12 month sub is $99, which happened during last year's xmas.

That's what I did about 4 days ago--6 months for 49 buckos is about as good as it gets. Subbed about an hour after I downloaded the client and have been having a blast ever since. OK, off to go shoot something.

Make that €30+ where I live. So on average a one year EvE subscription worth for a full tank (65 litres, +/- €105)...Sad

Seen in that light, EvE is cheap! Big smile
