When EVE first came out, I was tempted to subscribe. It looked like fun with space and starships and all those fun things science fiction has to offer. What put me off was there were no people, just ships. You couldn't walk around in your avatar. No first person.

A decade later, I finally took the dip. In fact, my main is over a year old now with over 19 million sp (alt has 10mil). The journey so far has exceeded my expectations. There is so much to make of this game, the skills are so deep. Not only does it take time to gain technical proficiency, it takes time to know how to play the game, to know all that's available out there. It is awesome. I think back on those ten years of wasted possibilities and shake my head. Ah well, at least I'm in it now.

What an amazing game EVE is. I can't think of another MMO that compares in terms of theme and method. While skills are key to gaining greater capability, skills themselves are only tools, not the end game. In fact, there is no end game. There is only the life of a capsuleer and how one chooses to live it.

And now you've decided to review and rebalance the game as a whole, making intelligent choices about direction that appear to have revitalized interest, both among present players and those who have left and those yet to be. It's just amazing to be part of it all, right now. The potential feels limitless. Can't say that about any other MMO's I've played so far. Not a one.

Keep at it, CCP. You've got something great going on here. Even if there are no avatars to WASD/mouse with, so freakin' what? There's a whole universe out there to dive into.

I'm not looking to gain anything from this post. It's just that after a year of playing I'm really impressed with what you've put together, and figure it deserves acknowledgement. So, kudos, CCP. And to the players as well. This is a rare game, one where developers and players meet halfway to create something greater than the sum of their parts.

Not gonna lie; after reading your first paragraph, I was expecting a "waaaahhhh where's muh spacebarbies??!!!?!" post.

How come you don't see it? This gift we've been given, free 20 days of training for our alts, is an obvious and desperate attempt to boost login stats!

Actually your avatars can WASD/mouse navigate in your CQ.

Honestly, people are boring anyway. If I want to control people I'll play every other MMO.

Ships are far more interesting.



I credit the new release schedule for actually getting me logging in weekly again. Previously I was just setting long trains and playing other stuff, but every release changes something that gets me back into the game.

From when I can navigate in space with WASD, navigating in station with avatar isn't the same.
Like, 3D space, vs 2D space for navigation. A lot more freedom, and there is no door.

Pretty sure pretty good is not the standard one should strive for.

But we are in the age of entitlement where everyone gets a medal. So here is a cookie CCP, don't hurt yourself coming up with something new. Just give us ship skins, fixes and iterations of the same content. You are doing pretty good.
