Now introducing Middle Security!

A while back I was reading something from the big Null Sec alliance guys about their complaints about the state of Null Sec (sorry, don't have the link) and was noticing one of the biggest gripes is how far it is from most of Null to an NPC station.

As a confirmed High Sec carebear I look at the null map as one big scary place with nowhere to go to run from the bad guys.

Since Thera became available I have an alt in there just to see what the big deal is. One thing that strikes me is that any market there is most likely going to be limited and very dangerous to actually use. The NPC stations in Null have the same problem. You have to get your stuff there and back out without getting killed.

What if there were a system in each null region that could act as a safe haven for people to go to that behaves more like High Sec so you could actually use it without dying on undock so much (jita aside)?

What I suggest is:

A system in each null region that has Concord as the Sov.

Has only one station. Owned by Concord. It would have repair, market, lp store etc but no industry/research and if it had reprocessing it would be like 30%.

Has a hybrid security level (call it Middle Security) that is something like between .4 and .5. Concord would respond to criminal acts but no one but gate guns would care if you are -anything. No faction police.

No moons so no pos or belts.

You could do PI there. Would yield the same as low sec.

Anoms and sigs comparable to low sec.

If you can fly it in low sec you can fly it here. Don't know enough about capital ships to know if this would turn it into a Titan parking lot but that should not be allowed. I would think being able to use jump freighters here would be a good thing though.

From a lore point of view the explanation would be as the entity that manages the sovereignty of New Eden, Concord needs an office in each region now for better administration. The fact that we can use it is a bonus. Since this is Concord they have to maintain order in their own systems.

What I see this becoming is a place for independents and small corps to have a place to base out of and do whatever they were going to do in null. Gives null guys more to shoot at and the guys being shot have a much shorter trip back for a new ship to get shot at. It also would be a natural place for a regional market that may actually be useful.

Going to get my flame retardant pj's now.

High sec (Anyone can dock), low sec (anyone can dock), NPC Null sec (anyone can dock), Null sec, station wormhole systems (anyone can dock), non station wormhole systems, non station/non-pos wormhole systems.

Yep, I do not see a point to your idea at all. You essentially crossed NPC Null with lowsec and made it terrible.

I can see the lorewise goodies... otherwise I don't see much point in it.

Quoting to make sure you read it. Wouldn't want it to get lost in the flood of responses to this horrible idea.

I like the idea as that means once I could get out there I can set up shop.
Every time ive been in null sec, the alliance fcs were more into having all miners in a combat ship sitting far away from alliance space on another station waiting for an attack that was suppose to come or get kicked out of the alliance.

I have been contemplating this for some time and figured there had to be reasons why this was a dumb idea but my perspective on the game would not allow me to see what they were. What I am hoping for here is for those that live in null to explain why this is such a bad idea.

From the point of view of someone who would like to go to null on occasion but not live there this would be quite useful.

The first title I had for this was "The dumbest idea you will read all year!" but just could not make myself do it.

the tears about distances to npc stations were all about power projection ahead of the jump drive changes recently deployed.

The blue donut wanted to stash goodies in the aforementioned npc stations so that they could continue to project power.
