Some stars according to their info are 44-68 billion years old, with our universe being 13.5 bil y.o gets EVE bit further into the future, haha.

Things I do solo are exploration in nulls, gas mining in WHs, highsec combat explo. Want to try solo camping in a recon sometime, WH sites or whatever.

not all galaxies in the universe are the same age and if you've read the novel series its closer to 30k years, although it is unknown at how long people lived in eve before the collapse of the wormhole and it dates 30000 years of death and darkness, entire civilizations disappearing to climb from the brink of nothingness back to the first spaceflight of the Amarr, followed by an unknown number of years before the 4 races discovering each other, followed by the discovery of the Jove who showed the races how to make capusleers as well as CONCORD before leaving off to their corner to figure out their disease that got worked in to the genetic engineering they were doing to themselves......those seats for the Jove at the Minmatar council meets still sit empty

And to the poster id say find someone to fly with, as a vet from 05 just last week i ran into a new guy thats been in game 2 weeks and fly with him now as im mostly a solo pilot myself because you can not trust no one in eve. Never trust anyone.

Make acquaintances and keep a finger on the trigger.

Stick with what works now. Do PvE, amass wealth, buy cool stuff, materially affect the Eve economy, and have a lot of fun. There is nothing compelling you to engage with other people when playing Eve - it's perfectly viable to essentially play it as a single player shoot em up and profit game.

I'm fairly casual about Eve. The reason to keep playing Eve is the social interaction. Eve focuses on the Multiplayer part of MMO very strongly, so while you can solo play, you need to understand that you will be at a disadvantage to those who work together.

The other thing I wanted to point out is that every action in any MMO is rinse/repeat. You are literally doing the same things over and over.

I have been solo since I came back a couple of months ago, and found exploration really fun. You get to fly around all over the map, there are different types of sites, and you can find a wormhole to drop into from time to time. It's varied and for me, doesn't get old as quickly as mining or station trading did.

That all being said, I still interact with others, even if it's just in various chat channels I participate in.

Do what ever you want :D

If for real life commitment reasons, or simply as a matter of personality, you prefer to play solo go for it but be prepared to set your own challenges and goals as EVE does not provide much in the way of "pre-formatted ready to pursue" long term goals.

Joining a corp can be rewarding but can also suck (you hear many stories of people slaving for ages mining and fighting when ordered to - only to have the corp leadership suddenly go AWOL, generally becasue they were all alts of the same guy who got bored) so if you go that route choose very carefully. I suspect as many people quit EVE due to bad corp choice as quit due to being disillusioned with solo play.

Note there are quite a few activities in EVE that are communal without necessarily requiring joining a player corp. You can run incursions as part of a fleet with an incursion community without ever joining a player corp. Trolling and being a general nuisance on the forums or in Jita/Amarr chat is fun, communal and does not require joining a corp.

Sad that's where most people are who are single player orientated. well atleast all my toons are more or less solo, came to same conclusion that friends or social aspect is what is missing from that solo part of the sandbox. i'd recommend keep playing and find a bunch of like minded people on one of the chat channels or forums etc. then upon failing that if for some unseen reason unknown to you now, decide what you want to do then.

well that is what i'd do. but i love internet spaceships Big smile but good luck with whatever you decide one way or another. but loved that video. station spinning. ha ha ha.

Well, you haven't made 500 billion ISk trading yet, so you can keep up with that. It's certainly not rinse-repeat. Try setting a goal of making 10 billion per month trading. See if you can make it just rinsing and repeating without seriously learning all kinds of markets in Eve and learning your competition etc.

You could also try manufacturing without mining your own minerals. Say try to make 5 billion a month manufacturing. You'll find many manufacturers sell for less than the mineral value of their wares. Try actually making a profit at it. And a big profit at that.

Try wormhole exploration, looking for the data and relic sites that have 100 million ISK payouts.

Get into solo PvP. Try solo frigate PvP in the faction warfare zones. You'll need to be all maxed on skills and implants and flying a 100 million ISK ship. And you'll still get your tail kicked by everyone with a booster alt.

Basically, you think you've done it all, but you haven't set your goals high enough. Basically the suggested goals are those that you can accomplish yourself, with no group or friends.

Beyond that, when you have set some proper goals, you'll learn you can't accomplish them without friends in most cases. You'll never be a small gang PvP FC without a small gang. You'll never be a BLOPs hunter-killer without a BLOPS fleet to call in.

You can set your sights on the geopolitical. How about this for a goal: set up the HERO coalition with a supply of supercarriers. Now THAT would be a goal.

Basically, if you're looking to the developers to provide you with content, you're missing the boat. The developer content is pretty much a grind. Some of it can be fun (WH exploration, for instance) but for the most part missioning and mining are things to just do as a grind. They are NOT what Eve is about. Yes, Eve is a social game. Those groups that do center around developer content are primarily social if they are any good. I have been in some fantastic high sec mining corps. The members just log in and mine. Nobody has any game aspiration other than that. However, they log in regularly, pop beers, talk about the ball game, life, the universe, and everything, and otherwise hang out with friends.

So yeah, basically those are your options:

1 - enjoy the social aspect of the game. Find a group you like to hang out and mine, run missions, whatever, and otherwise hang out with friends.

2 - set some REAL goals. If you you trade, try to own the universe. If you build, try to make mega ISK supplying entire regions. If you pew, become an alliance fleet commander and lead 200-man fleets to victory.

3 - turn to content made by players, rather than the game. Support an alliance as a builder, a logistician, as a PvP fleet member, or a fleet commander. Get in with an up and coming group like the Phoebe Freeport Alliance and try to keep them alive. Or get with a struggling and precarious mega power like HERO coalition and keep them in the fight. Or work your way into supporting the old guard of Eve power, like N3 or CFC and rise through the ranks.

Sounds to me like you've just taken a look at the basic building blocks of the game provided by the devs and mistakenly thought that was what Eve was. You haven't even started yet.

How many accounts do you have ?
I had a ton of fun with 2 accounts by sending one toon in to null in a bomber with a covert cyno and then jumping in a sin and running other peoples anoms.. the challenge is doing it without getting ganked.
You could also try some of the open pvp roams offered by rvb ganked, redemtionroad and others.. adds a little excitement to your eve experience if you a solo player.. also incursions make a good change.
If you haven't been in null, you could join a renter corp and go do some null ratting/exploring without the null drama. There are some that don't care what you do or even if you log on very casually...(if you interested in this, I can send you a few names to contact)
You can also solo in FW.. if you worried about youre standing use an alt, fw can be fun even in a frigate, things like pvp, offensive and defensive plexing and lvl4 missions are all great for solo content.
It is of course better to do it in groups.. places like brave newbies are great also for casual play

My personal suggestion would be to set up a second account & use one account when you want to play solo & with the other join a corporation to explore the myriad of other possibilities open to you in EvE (Cage Man has already given you a fair list of possible future ventures).

Good luck.

even as a casual player it is HIGHLY recommened that you join a corp.

You can solo just fine, but the ability to go 'you know what, my corp mates are doing x, I'd like to give that a try' improves your eve life dramaticly.

Think of it like this:

EVE is like going to the beach. Sure you can go there by yourself with yoru towel and beer and whatever and just have a lazy day, but that experience can be added to if you go hang out with the group playing volleyball, or talk to the cute guy/girl you see a bit down the beach, or even have your own friends join you for a party.

Can you play eve solo? sure, is it as fun? no.

EVE is not Disneyland... but even if it was, its more fun waiting in your 1-3 hour line to ride the new ride with friends and family then alone. Trust me, I have been to Disneyland more times then I can cout, both alone, with family, and friends, and having others enhances the experience.

Inotherwords... join a corp

It's a lot like life that way. If you're waiting for the pistol to go off, the race done left you behind. You can sit in front of the telly and dial-in your vote on cue, or you can venture forth and make something of yourself. Flip a coin.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Thanks all for the replies.

I decided to just update the skill queue and then removed the software.
Maybe the game will become more solo friendly later and I may try it again.

You all seem very cool though.

Solo lowsec piracy and exploration are the way forward.

There's just too much fun to be had killing/ransoming belt farmers, killing FW pilots, jumping PI transports, hunting exlporers, evading local pirate gangs and soo much more. Best thing about it... it's all possible in frigs. As you make more iskies and gain more SP you simply up the risk by flying Faction or Assault Frigs pimped with faction and deadspace mods.

Pew Pew!

I pew you too! <3

To bad the OP has decided to leave the game before I could post. Left some likes though. I feel too that once you have 'settled' as a solo player you reach a ceiling. To bad you reached it before trying piracy. Piracy is where things became social for me, basicly making friends with other pvpers. That's when decided to actually seek more player interaction (of all forms) and it stuck.
