In a former life I spent a great deal of time teaching other players how to PvP in eve. I have rejoined the game and I am potentially embarking on another project and so I would like to survey the new players. I am curious what the state of the player base is about PvP.

Thanks for taking the moments to read. Please no flaming. I will read every answer. Debate = good. Flaming = bad. You know the difference.

1) Yes.
2) I think it's fun.
6) A one day toon can be useful in pvp.
7) T1 frigate.
8) That it's accessable to everyone and can be done on the cheap.
9) More isk to buy ships for myself and my friends.
10) To have fun.
11) I'm happy to see that most players are resigned to losing ships and accept that it's part of the game.
12) AOE damage. It scales too quickly. Second to that would be supercaps.
13) Getting started for newbros. After that would be funding shiny fleets.

1) Are you Interested in PvP? not really, not in the sense of direct action. otherwise yes i am.

2) If you are interested and have not participated in it, then why haven't you done so? haven't gave it much thought.

2) If you are interested then what is your motivation for PvP? to see fireworks in space... P

4) If you are not interested why not? how can someone be expected to answer both 2 and 4......i mean 3 and 4....one is gonna be N/A. not sure which yet.

5) If you are not interested in PvP is there ever a circumstance where you would be willing to shell out a large amount of risk for
such protection? If so, what prevents you from doing so? Trustworthiness of mercenaries, limited contract system?

i don't pay ransoms to terrorists......risk is part of the isk after all but once you hand money over you are always going to beholden to someone else when you could do stuff yourself or band together with other PVE pilots. nothing says you have to PVP. [direct confrontation with pew pew pew- contrary to popular belief]

6) How many skill points do you think it requires to be effective in PvP? 55,556....?

7) What kind of ship do you think is the minimum to effectively PvP? rookie cutter.

8) What do you think is the most important facet of PvP in eve? ore extraction, PI.....um not sure was the answer market trading?

9) If you could have anything related to PvP within the current game mechanics, what would it be? that ship we're not supposed to ask for...and 10b isk free lifetime free play time...sorry i thought what would you want if you were king of new eden.....that question is too broad too be answered with any accuracy or seriousness.

10) What would be your PvP goal in eve? to be a bad mofo and to have a good bunch of friends.....nah i am joking to go pew pew pew on the ore. everything is PVP related so why not say the most droll passive PVP action....

11) When it comes to PvPers in eve, what is your general opinion of them? they are regular joes like me. but they prefer weapon modules and i prefer passive modules.

12) What do you think is the most broken mechanic in PvP? also too broad and possibly tangent leading to offtopic stuff.

13) When it comes to PvP in eve what is the most difficult aspect of it from your point of view? getting the nerve up to shoot your lasers after undocking for the first time and losing your first 10 rookie ships [not that i have had the experience but losing ships all the same]

i prefer passive PVP. but it's still PVP.

1. Eve IS PvP... The only thing that's even sorta PvE are prolly incursion runners. Although they do have PvP impact on the game, even if it's pretty much on accident.

2. NA

3. NA

4. NA

5. Prolly not..... PvP drives risks.... Risks creates value..... Offsetting that value by hiring people to eliminate the risk mostly defeats the purpose.

6. Depends what you mean by effective? As in able to "assist" almost 0. As in able to compete, mono-a-mono..... 200k?

7. a frigate....

8. Competition over resources..... Other wise the game is a REALLY crappy flightsim... With no manual aim, Manual Flying, or anything other space games have had for 10 years.

9. About another 3mill SP. For a decent TechII PvP fit.

10. To smash the next person who war-decs my corp to kindling.... Or better yet, Lock them down with Scrams and EWAR for about 4 hours all the while trash-talking them in local.

11. Uhhhh, Everyone who plays Eve is a PvPer....

12. Multi-boxing... If your going to use multiple ships then get some friends.

13. Options..... There are way too many...
