And that is his very first character in EVE is it? He's never played it before with an alt? Because that seems to be the case for so many people who say you can jump straight in with no skill points, virtually every video tutorial on the subject starts with 'so I started a new account with an alt' made by someone who's previously played EVE for like 5 years.

I'm about 6 months in and have done almost nothing apart from low sec FW style PvP, mostly frigate vs frigate. I'm still not very good, though I understand most basic concepts, and can understand what I did wrong after a loss, and what I did right after a win.

1) Are you Interested in PvP?
Yes. It's what drew me back to EVE after so many years.

2) If you are interested and have not participated in it, then why haven't you done so?
n/a

2) If you are interested then what is your motivation for PvP?
The fun, the thrill of success, the sense of accomplishment, the progression; in the sense of knowing you're getting better at PvP, not an arbitrary game mechanic.

4) If you are not interested why not?
n/a

5) If you are not interested in PvP is there ever a circumstance where you would be willing to shell out a large amount of risk for such protection? If so, what prevents you from doing so? Trustworthiness of mercenaries, limited contract system?
n/a

6) How many skill points do you think it requires to be effective in PvP?
That depends entirely on the pilot's skill and knowledge of the game mechanics. The same way E-War and Logi are 'force multipliers' in fleet fights, prior knowledge of game mechanics and pilot skill multiply how useful ones skillpoint total is. A newbie with 100 mil SP isn't going to know how to use them. Whereas a skilled Vet with an alpha clone's worth is going to mop the floor with those less experienced than they.

Source: I almost died to a scram kiting laser Bantam while flying a blaster Merlin. CEO almost died to a Battle Nereus while in a Vexor.

7) What kind of ship do you think is the minimum to effectively PvP?
A frigate. Hell, maybe even a pod/shuttle for warp-ins in fleet ops.

8) What do you think is the most important facet of PvP in eve?
Honestly, I don't know. Too many factors to choose from

9) If you could have anything related to PvP within the current game mechanics, what would it be?
I want a vertical T3 Thrasher.

10) What would be your PvP goal in eve?
That's fairly open ended. 'Fun', whatever that means, for however long I'm playing and PvPing.

A couple of goals I do have however is to be able to solo with more confidence. I solo fairly often, it's mostly me dying; I do learn a lot from it though so I guess I'm getting better already.

I'd also like to get better at FCing, so I'm watching videos and trying to take part in as many fleets as I can, and lead some when possible.

Basically I want to be Azual Skoll 2.0. That blog of his left a huge impression on me.

Hope these answers are helpful to your project. I try and do my part to help where I can, but having the more experienced take a hands on approach is invaluable. Kudos good sir.

2) If you are interested then what is your motivation for PvP?

While kills and strategic objectives are a thing, I'd like to add that the most important thing in PVP is the man next to you that you stand shoulder to shoulder with. Once you are on the field, nothing else matters. People are everything, and everything is contained within the people you rely on and work with.

By contrast PVE especially that in high-sec becomes a disgusting efficiency game.

Remember that whenever you have a bad day in EVE, the correct reponse is "Thank you CCP, may I please have another?"

Yes actually it is,
genuine newbro, his first character.
we told him how to do it and he just went out with his massive balls in a wheelbarrow and ****ing did it.

I'm not trying to pull the wool over anyone here, you're capable of PvP from day 0

The key here is guidance, with it and a good attitude any newbro can be a killer of giants

a large part of PvP in eve is engineering the circumstances in your favor and recognition of when the opponent has done so,
learning how to do this takes time and thers no way around that but joining an active PvP Corp that's newbie friendly will dramatically effect the rate at which this happens.
