This year, instead of just giving gifts out for free, CCP is incorporating the gift giving into the gameplay itself. Caroline's Star heralds the beginning of the month long interaction in which players will slowly see this years gifts revealed. The cloaked stations and sleepers in k-space, etc. are all part of an elaborate Christmas gift giving that CCP is setting up for those of us currently subscribed.

This year, you have to work for your gifts.

For some (strange) reason I never get any EVEmails. Only when I made a petition or when my account is about to lapse.
Other then that survey, christmas, come back free week trial etc. mails never reach my inbox (incl. my spam box).

Have you subscribed to the EVE Online newsletter?
Go to Account Management -> Edit Account Information. There is a checkbox for Newsletter subscription.
