there is a timer starting after the first container is getting hacked (successfuly or not). it's about one hour, then the site despawns.

And there is a reason for that.

Yeh it's all cool, it despawns in an hour+ in wh-space... I have seen em sit in the same spot for substantially longer in k-space.

This is still assuming that an hour is still a suitable time to take for them to despawn... vs 10 mins or so. Which it isn't. Not everyone is trying to afk gank in WHs.. and the despawn time for wh vs k-space doesn't have to be the same.

Your argument is basically, "well they despawn SOMETIME, so there is no reason to look at the issue." Flawed at it's core.

Not clearing a site is a form of PVP, which is acceptable in a PVP oriented game.

Easiest tweak would be slapping cargo scan immunity on the containers.

This would cause even more outcry when someone hacks open all the cans in a site and doesn't get what they feel is enough loot.
Over all removing cargo scanning is just a bad idea.

If you are using the site as a hunting ground, you can also not open the cans until you are done hunting and it would not despawn if the trigger for fast despawn is made correctly. If you also want the loot, then when you decide you hunted for however long you feel like, just do the site at that point and it despawing won't be an issue to you since you are leaving anyway.

Let's say I scan down a site, and only loot the Ruins cans. Then, I cloak and relax until someone else stops in. Then I blow them up and take their stuff.

Just one of the justifications for a long despawn.

I mean c'mon I scan what 100 or so sites a day. (And I am a lightweight) I don't get pissed when I see one empty. As mentioned earlier maybe someone had to leave quickly. I just scan the cans and sometimes they left behind the best stuff.

If they upset you that much keep moving there are thousands of sites.

The original idea was them to not even try to despawn while someone is in them. Like combat sites, so putting a 4-5 despawn time on em while they are empty doesn't ruin your way of playing. Infact thong would change for you.

Mean while in the other 99% of new eden the quality of life has been improved for everyone else. Simple logic.

Cargo scan immunity would be the best solution here. But then the container IDs need to be changed. Otherwise you could just open the "ruins" container and maybe the second best (forgot the name) and leave the rest. There should be no way of telling the possible value of a can without successfully hacking it.

And btw +1 for having an escalation chance.

Now here is an idea that would be fine. Might even placate whiney OP. But I sense nothing would.....

Is there no way CCP can make relic/data sites despawn after someone warps out of it the first time?

Spending all afternoon scanning down sites only to find someone left 1 piece of carbon in 1 container gets VERY old.

There are a lot of combat sites that despawn on warp out, why not data/relic sites?

Never had this before, once I have opened all the cans and taken out what I want the site always despawns. Only way for this to happen is for one of the can to be left completely alone so you should be able to figure out by that when you land someone has already done this site.

I wouldn't be able to get the kills I want if this happened. I leave a couple of containers unhacked and wait for the chap to turn up because I know exactly where he is going to be. Easy kills.
